God no. There were many times I laid face down on Iraqi rooftops because 7.62x54 being fired from a PKM was zipping right thru the crap masonry work and skipping all over the rooftop.
On top of that, proper “sniping” if on exposed rooftops we would bust out small ballistic and optical loopholes to shoot/observe thru while prone and back away from the parapet walls. It’s more desirable to shoot from a lower floor from concealment within a room and avoid rooftops all together.
“Mounting” on parapet walls is about the least desired gunfighting because you are ultimately silhouetting your position.
The overall point I’m making about the lack of prone is the parroting that they didn’t often use prone when in cqb is silly and completely out of context. Umm ya we didn’t typically lay down in hallways or on the couch when clearing structures but the other 99% of movement that occurs outside it’s highly valuable and needed for basic survival.
Its dumb gameplay mechanics like that without proper context and just aren’t logical or reasonable that will continue to hold this project back.
But a rooftop mission would be dope, I always see videos of marines engaging from the rooftop and taking fire and shooting back.
Overall though prone would be the best not sure why games same with ready or not dont have that. Cost I assume or coding?
rooftop engagements would be a great addition but that requires prone. and probably getting the AI right. right now it's like you have to lead them up to the roof before you cross over to another one because if you run ahead they might take a downstairs route and run into trouble
