85% Positive, but Low Player Count?
This is not a hate post, lets clear that up right now.

I'm just curious why the game has such a limited playerbase (305 24hr peak vs all-time peak of 8,021). Is it lacking content still? Did the devs do something that pushed people away? Is there a similar game doing it better?

Curious to hear as I'm considering buying this.

I think many are waiting for the delayed team AI. There is nothing quite like this. There are a few in the pipeline but they are not released yet.

I have been in early access since its release in June 2023. The majority of players give a good evaluation of the game when they start playing and that is normal because as they say, "All new, all beautiful". It is true that the game was pleasant to play when it was released in early access. Just like us, you will quickly realize that it is just smoke and mirrors and when you are more than 300 hours into the game, you will understand why the number of players has also drastically decreased for multiple reasons. . I will not name here once again the causes of this setback because they have already been listed. Take the time to browse the forum and you will find answers to your questions.

You have a squad to do a platoon's task.
With three deserters enjoying ice cream and cold air at the armored vehicle.

Lack of content updates for awhile and no singleplayer AI, which the devs say will be added Q2 2024.

The sole reason I was even interested in this game was for the single player and squad commands which got hyped up then discarded initially to test the waters and see how long they can go without putting in the real work to make that happen. Let's be honest...it's obviously more work to make single player content then it is to simply plop a map into your game and let players have at it. Though I doubt single player will save this game either......but that's just my thoughts on it. Even as I post this, I came here to see if single player was added yet but no dice.

Probably cause there are another 8,000 tactical coop or pvp shooter games on Steam stressing about "realistic shooting mechanics". There are 1,000 more in early access and 300 more about to be announced next month :steambored:

We need single player and tactical AI teammates. I've been waiting for decades for games like og Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, (The games from the 2000's not the newer casual trash.) and Brothers in Arms.

I really hope we get good tactical AI. Not some bodyguard AI the follows the player around. I hope the AI atleast has the basics.
The AI commands from og Ghost Recon could be a great start imo.

I tried for quite awhile to get into Six Days. But ultimately, this game just doesn`t feel natural or intuitive in either movement control in the 1st person view.... or gun handling.

Same , also, i am waiting for IA teamates to get back in the game. Beeing alone like that during missions is just not fun and very unrealistic.

But like you said the main issue is the gun handling.
They need to take a look at what RoN is doing about the gun handling/feeling(perfect in my opinion)

The potential is there but until they fix this i am afraid the player count will stay like this.

No AI, you cant choose caracter, you cant get over a 1meter high "wall", you cant go prone(and "real" soldiers" should have helped") bots kill on 1 shot. The biggest waste off money for us in 25years and after all the hipe about it.

I understand some of us are disapointed, specially because we can feel the potential of the game, but lets keep faith in the devs, they still can turn the tides.

I was a supporter of Ready or Not before it was even on steam and the first builds were similar to the state of 6 days is now.

They managed to turn the game into the right direction, i hope the devs of 6days will do the same, but it wont be be done overnight, its a lot of work if they want to change/remake mechanics.

The potential is still here, i hope they wont waste it, it can become a very good game over time.

Can you guys be more specific about what you enjoy with RoN's weapon handling?

Hello ampercamper and thanks !

I will try with my limited english, but in my opinion the main flaw of this game is the gunplay : how it "feels" ,for exemple the point shooting in the game is counter intuitive and for a CQB game we absolutely need good point shooting since most of our engements will happens at close/medium range.

In RoN when you press the key to toggle point shooting, even without a laser dot you can land your shot approximatively where you want to i dt find the english words for it, but it feels "natural".

Also the sounds of the weapons is much more impacting and it plays a big role in the immersion in my opinion.

I believe 6days will be a great game over time and thanks for your work.

You have to go play it to understand. The animations for guns are just 100x smoother. ADS, reloads, hipfiring, etc. In SDIF it just feels like a bunch of very rigid animations that don't flow together.

But they also have a huge advantage in that they focused on getting the AI out fast while SDIF has been taking an ungodly amount of time to get it out there.... and building a playerbase is all about retention in the first 90 days. That period is long past and even if you released everything people want tomorrow, its an uphill fight to bring people back and rebuild any kind of hype for people who didn't buy it before.
