Aren't looking through your eyes is realistic? xD
From what i have noticed it makes it look more photo realistic imo, it's fairly new and so something different i guess.
The photo realism from Unrecord and Bodycam is the ultra high res photo realistic textures/assets being used in UE5 with its lighting.
That's because we're used to see this stuff on youtube.
But to PLAY like that is weird. Doesn't make sense.
It's how marketing works. "Look how real this footage is" ... and people seem to forget it's not how it should be played. It's a trick to sell it. Good one I have to admit.
Nonsense for realistic playing though.
Yes, the op is asking if you are going to add a feature that is the current fad in gaming.

I am sure there are other games that have this type of mod too. Also thanks for taking interest, it's nice to see a Dev reading these. :)
It's mainly a camera filter and position of the camera with extra screen sway/bobbing to give the feeling of movement..
Vignette and partial fish eye filter to the view to simulate vision being closed off around you, then the body swaying around from side to side when walking/running/leaning with the camera mounted on the chest level.
Some people describe these games as "motion sickness simulator". Some love it, others, it'll screw with their perception of what is going on causing tunnel vision and a motion sickness feeling.
It's the same with VR, some love it while others don't get on with it.
One of the modders added it to Sandstorm, Snakey's Realistic movement mod I think it was in. It looks nice and gives a different feel to Sandstorm but was not that popular with admin/server owners running it.
Quite a few people think it's this that is ultra realistic but it's mainly the scanned high res assets and textures used in Bodycam and Unrecord. The camera effects just add to the illusion of realism. Sandstorm mod, same assets were used in game and was just applied with a camera position tweak, some bobbing/swaying around and a few lens filters applied over the top.
Yeah totally as simple as filters and changing effects that are already present in the game and yes that megascanned assets are so freely available now too allowing so much more fidelity in game. its great that you dont really need mod content to get these effects just adjustments and layers on something already present to suite the need of scene mood etc.
The problem with fitting this in is, were bodycams used in Fallujah?
Game is designed to be seen from the eyes of a marine not the bodycam of a marine, so I think this will end up being a non starter, still, i'm sure some would like to play with this effect just it's not historically accurate if bodycams were not used at the time.
One of the marines would have to answer what kit they had but i'm sure this tech was not being used or was even available back then. It's only been the last 10 years(ish) that cameras have started to get so small with such high detail. I remember the resolution of early camera phones, those things are really bad by todays standards.
You make very good valid points, thanks. :)
Would some of these effects be possible with reshade?
I've not played about with reshade, you could simulate some of the effects with vignette and slight fish eye filters on the extreme edges. Camera position would be out of place though.
