Guns looks different
i am thinking about buying but the guns don't look right. For it being a high real sim and seeing the way the guns are used don't give me high expectation.

What are people thinking that have played it?

The m16a2(iron sights) , m16a4 (trajicon rco), & m203 launcher all work and function as they should. This game is unforgiving with missed shots and 100% takes tactics and communication. Dont peak a corner or check windows before entering a bldg- you'll be dead. If you're looking something similar to HLL, this wont be the game for you. Your 4 man fireteam gets one chance at respawning per match and without completing the mission, you will not gain experience. I thoroughly enjoy it coming from a Marine Corps veteran. I've probably put in 10-13 hours of playtime and have just now reached e-3 LCpl. Any questions feel free to ask.

The guns work. I do agree it does feel wonky, but the game just came out and isn't going to be as polished as other games like Ready or Not and Ground Branch. All the weapons are satisfying to use except the Benelli M4.

I think the op means about the aiming. You use your mouse wheel to toggle using the acog or rear sights. You aim over the top with front sights only for short range like when you are clearing buildings. Watch some gameplay vids on youtube, it’ll make more sense.

Not to nit pick but I actually believe the iron sighted M16 is the A4 variant. The iron sight was actually an attachment placed on the picatinny rail of the upper receiver.

But yes. All weapons are exactly as they would be in 2004 and used properly.

All of the M16s are A4 variants as far as I can tell. The only thing that is wrong is the acog sight doesnt co witness in real life, so you wouldn't be able to see the front iron sight in real life like you can in-game.

The thing that bugs me the most about the shooting mechanics is that you lower your weapon when suppressed. Absolutely ruins it for me. Not sure what vet they talked to that said you lower your weapon when you get shot at.

This game is rated for 18+ audiences, you might be too immature and young to play. Come back in a few years youngster.

Endy that's not a crosshair, there are no crosshairs in this game, It changes from either 1 to 3 dots depending on what fire mode you set the weapon, single or burst fire. Also shooting from the hip is not centre screen like in most games it's much lower.

Thanks for this - this is correct. The fire-mode indicator is the dot at the center screen, which changes based on selected fire mode. I've noted that you guys would like to see better user feedback for this.

i get that but if the game says its highly realistic i would think they would understand how sights work. looks like it could be a cool game just hope its not just another money grab.

Are you talking about screenshot number 4 on the store page? In that case, they're simply looking over the acog for close-range shooting. You're not really using the front sight in that case; it's not meant for precision shooting or "regular" aiming, it's just to spray at close-range in kind of a hurry since the optics provide too much magnification to see your target that close. You just happen to be able to see the front sight when doing so since the person in the screenshot is aiming at an upward angle.

no i am talking about the entire first video where he uses the front iron sight over the acog and somehow the bullets still hit where the front sight it placed. To me it looks like the barrel is at a significant angle up but still can fire rounds straight which wouldn't make sense on a real rifle

It's called point shooting and was used by the Marines in Fallujah.

That being said, it's not effective if your target isn't within a building's length away from you IRL. I suspect the devs made a playability compromise here to make it more accurate over longer ranges, as point shooting is more complex than shown in-game. The front post acts as a "crosshair" players can use.

Devs have noted feedback on this and I hope they adjust it so we actually have to use the sights at longer ranges, but in the meantime you can freely swap between the two aiming modes so if you want you can just use the point shooting indoors and swap to sights outdoors to get that extra realism.

Overall, the experience and atmosphere is like no other game on the market, so if you have a group of friends playing pick it up. If not, wait 6 months and pick it up once AI teammates are added.
