Unable To Hear Teammates
So, right off the bat I love the game, I think it has huge potential and is a blast with friends. BUT.... since shortly after installing I have not been able to hear any in game communication from teammates, either through proximity verbal or through the radio. I can hear the radio click on and off, but nothing audible comes from my teammates. I can hear literally everything else in game, and as far I can tell they CAN hear me (tested with a friend while in Discord). With the recent patch I can see that the game does pick up my mic activity, and I've set VOIP all the way up to "very loud", but still nothing.

So far I have verified the integrity of the game files, reinstalled the game, updated my game's audio driver and graphics driver, still nothing.

I know this game is best with friends, but not being able to communicate with randoms at all is unfortunately preventing from really enjoying the game.

I happen to be experiencing the same issue not quite sure what is the cause of it though.

I had the opposite. My friends were hearing one other guy and myself echo really bad so we just switched to using Discord to play. Not a great solution as I have yet to figure out the cause to allow me to team up with random players.

Switch from stereo to headphones or vice versa on the audio screen. Fixed it for me.

Yeah I tried that too sadly.

Yes, this is one of our known issues[support.sixdays.com]. Please refer to my reply in another thread for some troubleshooting while we work on a fix.

The visual feedback for mic input and headphone output is now live in the audio settings, so please check these icons in the audio settings. They'll flash if receiving input/output.

Additionally, please run through some of the troubleshooting steps from our audio team to ensure we have a bug on our hands:

If you can't hear other players:
  • In Windows Sound Settings (Playback Devices)
    • set your headphones as your Default Device
    • set your headphones Default Communication Device
    • disable any audio devices you don't use
    • warning! do not change spatial audio settings while you are in a party
  • In SDiF Audio Settings
    • turn your voice chat volume up to 100%
  • If these steps don't fix your problem, congratulations you have found a bug!
    • We are currently working on a fix for this. For now, some players report disabling IPv6 or using a VPN fixes their voice chat issues.
If other players can't hear you:
    In Windows Sound Settings (Recording)
    • set your microphone as your Default Device
    • set your microphone Default Communication Device
    • disable any audio devices you don't use
  • In SDiF Audio Settings
    • set your input mic to the microphone you selected in Windows settings
    • make sure your mic volume is NOT muted
    • make sure your voice chat is ON
    • speak into the mic and watch for signal
      • If the box does not light up, there is a problem with your microphone configuration
      • If the box lights up when you speak, the game is receiving your mic signal. If players still cannot hear you, congratulations you have found a bug in our VOIP system! We are currently working on a fix for this. For now, some players report disabling IPv6 or using a VPN fixes their voice chat issues.

Have you found a solution yet?

I too have been unable to hear teammates, only their radio sound effect. But after trying today's patch a strange anomaly happened. My game froze from being desynced with a 500ms host and suddenly I could hear them.... for the first time ever since preordering the game!

A desync bug fixed the voice comms bug in the epic's online service that the voice comms is reliant on?. :hmmmx:

On my next matchmake without exiting the game, the no voice bug came back though...

Is there an external .exe or background service in windows we have to allow through firewall to somehow connect voice comms with epic online service? I currently only have one network adapter enabled and only ipv4 is bound to it.

@Hodor, thanks for the detailed report. Your case is definitely interesting. It may be redundant, but have you tried our troubleshooting steps above?
