I think so, like i heard one in the next room, as i was in the hallway walking close to that room (flashlight on) i got bum rushed and killed.

Absolutely. They'll also pick up on your movement sounds (not VOIP).

Well, WE should be able to HEAR their footsteps ALOT better than we can atm. So much unbalance right now. Hope they fix this. Flashlights a tad underpowered as well. They should light up ahead of us in a darkened room alot better. Not to mention rooms in the daytime at ground level and above I doubt are as dark as we are seeing atm.

please dont buff the lights they are nearly perfect. Circa 2004 standard lumen was 65. I think it would be really cool if the Devs went the other direction and implemented an approx 20 min run time, after that your sol.

Most of these dudes don't wear combat boots like the US so the footstep noise is pretty accurate. You can still hear them but you have to really listen for it. Also the flashlights are fine and pretty accurate for what you'd get in the early 2000s. As for the ambient light in the room I agree that light would normally flood through a window a little better than it currently does. However, I feel this was a difficulty decision to add to the fog of war that this game portrays really well.

the original question remains unanswered: does using a flashlight make you an easy target? Is it really used in real combat like depicted in tons of videogames? Or maybe much lesser and more carefully?

The original question was if the enemy could detect it and it was answered. That being said, it's a lot easier to shoot towards a bright light than a dark figure in an already dark room. They are used in real combat although typically you would flash it on for a second to snapshot the room and gain a picture but you wouldn't just have it on the whole time. And something that people don't typically do well in games but is a necessity in real life is to not backlight your teammates. The guy at the front in a hallway should be the only guy using his light.
