btw the character is able to run ... you need to double-click the "run" button. From my point of view this speed seems to be realistic.
I mean, everyone has a heavy ballistic vest, one has a shotgun and a rifle, and another a freaking machinegun. and everyone is holding 5 mags for every weapon ( two for machinegunner) and a few grenades. That's probably over 25-30kg each of gear. I doubt anyone can go for a sprint with that much on himself.
The "sluggish" feeling mostly comes from situations where even a fully loaded SAW gunner would be fast as lightning (e.g. grenade drops in front of him or an enemy flanks and he needs to sprint/duck in cover or suddenly he has enemy in front of him and he needs to point and shoot) but in the game he can't.
GB has this nice system of muscle-fatigue (the longer you have your weapon ready, the harder the sway), really hope this game gets smth similar. Fast movements, specially fast gunplay, but depleted stamina over time. Would fit perfectly.
Compared to Ranibow 6 Siege, COD, Insurgency Sandstorm and Tarkov, then yes they are slow. Compared to a real life/realism setting I think its fine.
Having a 20 inch barrel on your rifle will reduce the speed one can slew a rifle. Having an armour carrier, with plate on your chest, over a thick combat harness and other load bearing material will impinge on upper body movement as well. So based on that and the more gritty historical setting of this game, then I think the aiming and movement speed is appropriate.
Considering the setting of Marines in Fallujah and not Seal Team 6 operators, i think aiming speed is again, appropriate.
As to ground movement speed, have a look at the ground you are walking over, especially outside and ask yourself "how fast could i realistically run, over rubble and debris, without rolling both ankles" or falling over. So I think the ground speed is appropriate.
Is the sluggish speed of the characters more understandable given this context? (I think thats what the devs were intentionally going for).
Movement in buildings is fine it’s just the open spaces yea it feels a bit slow.
