I think it's a suppression mechanic. While I get it and I appreciate the attention to detail for realism, the lack of agency over the character movements makes the gameplay a little bit frustrating. It needs to get reworked :engi:

It's been happening to me too. You basically just die if they shoot near you during close quarter combat.

That's a really stupid mechanic.

Also, checking yourself if you're shot at is also really stupid, as if you wouldn't know if an AK round it you. I could get checking yourself if a grenade went off near you, and the percussion hit you, so you aren't sure if you are hit or not.

So they made "Hip firing" a no-no?
Hip fire won't hit and stop the target? Not even a fake one.
Holds on to a smoke nade like a cold beer but won't release it?
This is my first mission of the game.
Well they better be fixing stuff fore not too long!
And before I forget LOL :steammocking: what is the proper way to bleed out?
anyone found a med kit?

Tell that to the ANA soldier who took a round next to me and didn't realize it. I did a blood sweep on him and found blood under his IBA.

this mechanic makes perfect sense. you don't need to be a soldier to know that during a fight when your adrenaline is at an all time high you can take a shot and not even realise. that's why other soldiers do checks on you too. maybe a shot hits some rubble and you get hit by that and it makes you think you've been hit too and have to check yourself if it was a hit.

but yeah as for this post im not a fan of the descoping, im not sure if its meant to represent your character panicking in a close rage engagement but it comes across as buggy more than anything else. paired by the fact hip firing in this game has you aiming down at your feet on a 45° angle. off the top of my head i cant think of a better system but i do like the thought of in a close range scenario your character panicking in some way. the only thing i can think of is if theyre insistent having you descope then maybe making hipfire in that situation viable and also to add to the panic factor have the weapon aim independent to the to the character model similar to this game play footage in "Unrecord" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IK76q13Aqt0

Checking yourself makes sense in real life combat situations, cuz adrenaline rush puts you in survival mode and you don't feel any pain or something. Not only for soldiers...also in everyday situations, like car accidents or something. People don't recognize, that they're heavily injured. There are UFC fights where fighters realized in the post fight interview, that their toe was half ripped off...and only because the interviewer told them so. So in those situations you're not always sure if it's your blood, or not.

As a videogame mechanic it can be bothering tho...cuz it seems to make no sense there, as you know when injured. Same for exiting ADS whilen been shot at or hit. Makes a game hard to play...but in real life you'll exit ADS, or heavily flinch, when hit...or exit and take cover, when under fire.

So they have to find the sweet spot between realism and videogame fun.

i mean i cant give any insight as to what would happen "in real life" and i especially dont wanna make any assumptions considering the reply above my last was literally a marine commenting. im sure he cringes harder than anyone when he hears gamers say "that wouldnt happen in real life" when 99% of them wouldnt know ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about what would happen in real life lol. i know the devs worked very closely with actual veterans from the battle of Fallujah and i'd like to think these are things that happened in the field and these are early gameplay implementations of these things happening. like the close range engagements and checking for wounds.

:notebook:Yeah it's a tough spot to find. It can make or break a game.

No I think this is gonna be a change that will be implemented. Iv sent feedback for that too Like in Tarkov you toggle between. Its EA theyl fix that

I set my keybindings to side Mouse 3 helps just quick click but it is annoying

Please stop saying "In Real Life" you exit ADS. That's nonsense statement.
In real life you know your weapon is lowered and you do not shoot ground repeatedly before realizing.
This is a bad mechanic. Plain and simple. Unless you are looking at your gun and not the target you might not even notice with how the default sights work.

Actually conflicted on this now, I remember huntshow down had that, where you had to ads from the hip I actually loved it. Hmm honestly dont know how I feel about it, been so long im so used to ads now from low ready.

You have a point aaa damn nah maybe thats good the way it is, glad its Ea to test it out find out which is better

nobody said this statement. we said in real life its possible for soldiers to be shot and not know due to adrenaline, hence why you need to check for wounds. the only comment on trying to bridge the mechanic to real life was by me saying " im not sure if its meant to represent your character panicking in a close rage engagement but it comes across as buggy more than anything else" nobody claimed the Descoping to be true to real life. but tbf in real when aiming a gun it is surprisingly intuitive to aim a gun without your eye being down the sight and a decent sized target at close range. you know where its pointed so you just have to shoot. so in a panicky situation you could very easily just shoot without raising it your eye which id imagine if a soldier gets caught off guard and thinks hes about to lose his like the last things hes thinking and near point blank range is 1). raise gun to eye level 2). make sure target is lined up 3). shoot. no hes gonna point that gun at the enemy and start firing.

which is how i think its supposed to come across in this game but its very jarring so i think they need to find a new way to try and get that sense of your soldier panicking coming across, which is why i suggest if they wanna stay intended on that descoping thing at least make it so in those situations where our soldier panics he raises his gun enough to allow for actual return hipfiring, instead of the 45 degree angle hes carry it at all times

this. i had an uncle wounded in vietnam and he didn't realize he was hit until one of his buddies pointed it out to him. guess what caliber it was? 7.62x39mm. ak.

furthermore, i was in a pretty bad car accident when i was 12...maybe 13? i cant remember. anyways, i broke my nose during the accident because i faceplanted into the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dash board. i didnt realize it had happened and i didnt even feel the blood running down my face for quite a few min afterwards. my mother mentioned my nose bleed and i looked down and could physically see my nose was slightly off to one side but very swollen. sucked.
