4 minutes and 36 seconds to load and start the game??
Something I've noticed so I decided to test it.

Starting from the Steam window I click on "PLAY" and start my timer. It takes 1:56 minutes to be able to click on "FIRETEAM MISSIONS".
Once I click on "FIRETEAM MISSIONS" it take an additional 2:40 minutes to be able to click on "ENTER MATCHMAKING". It takes 4:36 seconds to start the game and be able to click on "ENTER MATCHMAKING".

That's the base line test. So now I exit the game and start all over from the beginning. I then exit the game and go back to my desktop and Steam. Once the game is ready to click on "PLAY" again within the Steam window I click "PLAY" and start the timer. From there it only takes 34 seconds to be able to click on "FIRETEAM MISSIONS" and an additional 4 seconds before I can click on "ENTER MATCHMAKER". For a total of 38 seconds to load the second time.

Why does it take 4:36 minutes to load the game the first time, but if I exit and leave the game to come back later it only takes 38 seconds to load up??? Has anyone else noticed this?

No, but why are you starting it from Steam? Put a shortcut on your desktop and and avoid the middleman.

Yeah, I tried that. It starts Steam anyways.

This is common in unreal engine 4 games. It takes longer to load everything the first time after booting the computer for the first time. Once you close the game, it starts faster the next time. The same happens with Ground Branch, and a couple of other UE4 games I tried (not sure if with all). However, this is definitely most noticeable if you're using and HDD or a slow SSD, people using a fast SSD or M2 drive probably won't notice this.

Hmmm...... I did not know it was present in other UE4 games. That's good info for sure.

I'm using a fast SSD, but I suppose it's all relative. Some may call it fast some would say not fast enough. lol.

So this time I left my PC running and left the house for a couple hours after I finished playing. I started the game when I returned and it took about 3 and a half minutes to get in game again. Kinda strange that it would sit in memory and then begin to decay like that. Why not have it load and unload completely?

This process takes no longer than a minute to enter matchmaking on my end. Would you mind sharing your system specs?

first launch:
35 secondes to the point where you start search for other players (matchmaking start)......

second launch:
20 seconds to the same point

I would say there is geenral something strange on your side.....

Sounds like a PC skill issue. I load in under a minute.

Unreal Engine sometimes has to compile shaders on the first launch, similar to how games setup pre- requisite tools such as device detection for RGB mice and keyboards. This is normal. This only happens once, if you delete any cache that SDIF stores info, or uninstall and reinstall it will likely have to do it again.

Windows 10
Ryzen 7 5700G
16GB ram
RTX 3060 Vid card
WDC PC SN530 SSD drive

Not sure if it'll help, but there it is. :)

Never had it. Game launchs instantaneously and load time can vary, but it's always fast. I think it depends on host, but don't know. Sometimes it's really fast (few seconds), times load time can last almost a minute. Still fast for a game that have procedural maps.

Thanks for this. Yes, you fall in our recommended system requirements and shouldn't be seeing this long of load times. Please submit a ticket to Support[support.sixdays.com]with this information so we can troubleshoot!

That is similar to what I have. Weird how you're getting a very long load time.

How old is that SSD? Also, are you running your OS and your Steam/Games on the same drive? If yes, I highly recommend getting a second drive and using that for steam, games and etc. It will split the workload on the drive and improve your load times by not taxing the drive as much.

The SSD is only a couple years old at most. Na, I have my OS and Steam/games on different drives. This is mostly a dedicated gaming/ trading PC. I don't have any BS apps installed like MS office or anything like that. I have my laptops for doing serious work.
