Space per animal per enclosure?
I had to force-quit my game when I went to do a trade, and put the animals in a pre-made enclosure, only to find out my enclosure was too small. There's no way to back out of a trade once you've committed (that I can see, esc certainly doesn't work), so I decided to quit and lose my project and rebuild.

Is there any way to hover over an animal re: trades or rescues and see how much enclosure space it requires? That way I can pre-build an enclosure that fits the animal, instead of just guessing.

These days I'm dealing with it by making enclosures that are way too big, but this messes with planning overall. Obviously things can be edited, this just seems like a bit of an oversight (unless I'm missing some obvious way of checking!)

Is there any way to check this that folks know of, when you don't already have the animal in your zoo and can only see it in Trades or Rescue? Clicking on the animal icon doesn't do anything.

Is there a guide or list anywhere (like a Wiki) where there's a list of animals I can check re: preferred space / enclosure size? (ETA: Found the Wiki which is helping! But still think this would be a useful in-game stat upon animal acquisition, that or you can cancel trades.)

You can resize enclosures after they have been made. Put the animals into the enclosure and then resize it after the trade is completed to compensate for animals that take up more space than expected.

Someone was keeping a google spreadsheet that gave information on how big to make an enclosure per how many animals you wanted in it, but I can't seem to find it. What I ended up doing was keeping an empty pen to put arriving animals in, and then making/adding them to the appropriate enclosure after they arrive

Absolutely, but this is very challenging in the beginning, when everything is expensive and you have to be careful what decisions you make. Just buying more land and resizing an enclosure is not really easy or possible in every situation. Idk if folks remember their very first or beginner's games (around when I posted this thread btw), but what you can do later on in the game easily, is a lot harder in the beginning. And it's *easy* to prevent, by simply making that information available in-game.

Like, that's absolutely no problem for me now, I can resize/buy land easily and whenever I want, but it would still be way more convenient to actually have the numbers/space they require pop up when you hover over the icons of the animals to rescue them or acquire them to the zoo. *Especially* as a beginner to the game, where having more animals gets more visitors + money, but not having the money to buy land or space quickly means unhappy animals and poor consequences.

Consider that the devs think this is important enough information to come up every single other time you click on an animal, I just think this is an opportunity to put it here too. And it would make the game a bit less inconvenient. But that's just my personal feeling on the matter. I am definitely aware of resizing etc.

I still consult the Wiki now every time when I encounter a new animal. Like, that info is still vital to my gameplay style. Making your zoo look nice is actually like, part of the game for some of us, and resizing can be pretty inconvenient from a design standpoint even if it's easy from a financial standpoint in the later stages. And while I still sometimes have to resize (mostly due to being too optimistic about how few animals I'll need to reach every variant), at least I'm in a relatively decent ballpark thanks to the Wiki.
