Is it possible to enable ''classic aiming'' from the OG III and VC?

I just started to play and I noticed that the aiming is more like SA where you have to press and hold the right mouse button to enter aiming and I was wondering if there is some way to enable or even mod the old aiming from the original PC versions of III and VC where the aiming reticle is always on the screen and WASD is used to strafe left/right/foward/backward.

Isn't this a console thing? I don't remember such aiming in the original games on PC. Or maybe it was an option I never enabled.
