Too Hard!
I just started GTA3 and I’m find the Ambulance missions way too hard. Even the taxi missions are too hard. I get timed out after level 8 at most.
I don’t think it’s me, either. I completed Vice City a month ago and got to level 100 on the taxi mission in 1 go and level 13 on ambulance without breaking a sweat.
Has the difficulty always been so much harder in GTA 3 or has something been done to this release? (Never played GTA3 before)

Me too.
I got stuck on the ambulance mission and tried many many times. But all failed. But I got the full achievements for GTA VC and SA, all the missions are easy to pass. Seemed there was nobody wanted to fix that. I already deleted this game.

The difficulty was always very high for the vehicle missions in GTA3, that's why they were so much easier in GTAVC and GTASA.

Biggest tip I can give you is literally do both missions before doing anything else. Do the ambulance missions as soon as you're able to choose missions on the first island, before doing any in-game plot quests. No gangs start out hostile to you, so you'll have less damage that way. The ambulance is still made out of a paper bag, though, so you have to drive super carefully.

Highly recommend you find a CE table or the like that makes your vehicle indestructible, if playing on PC.

it is harder than VC but its not terrible. did it yesterday. paramedic is easiest done if you do it in 1st area before gangs are hostile, use a bat to knock the doors off the ambulance before you start, and use safe and careful shortcuts, use handbrake on tight turns (RB), and at the beginning of the later levels go for nearby clusters first to pad your time. took me several attempts to get it but i did and that infinite stamina is very necessary for the rest of the game.

I was able to peacefully complete the ambulance mission on the second island (after the "Last Request" mission). Tips: avoid the area with the construction site (brown rectangle on the map), because only there will be a gang hostile to Claude; drive in and out of the hospital directly on the stairs (the ambulance can climb it without problems). It was my first experience of playing the third GTA, and so I also faced the impossibility to complete the mission of the ambulance on the first island :marijaonlooker:

Also, the second island gives you a lot more time for this mission!

i was on the last lvl and ran out of time. its super dumb that some drop offs during the lvl doesnt give you time. i might not touch this game for a while.

I raged quit😄
IMO you need gamepad for these missions in GTA III. I have finished all Taxi missions and it requires some skill. You have strict time limit and driving meachanics more demanding than in GTA V. So if you really want to pass these missions, you need to have gamepad and some practice. However, it is possible to pass. With mouse an keyboard, it can be harder but not impossible. This is how additional missions looked like in the past. From what I know, there was no urge to give 100% completion to all. If it would be easy to complete, where the fun would be in completing it? Of course, if bugs are causing problems to players, it should be repaired but if difficulty is the same as it was years ago, then I can only recommend practice.

Just instal Cleo Redux and remove all traffic. Got it first try and got achievement. Without it spent 5 hours failing.

Compared to the original GTA3, the side missions are actually much easier imo. Either way, it's best to do paramedic missions early in the game before gangs are mad at you. Once they are Portland is no longer the best place, Staunton Island becomes the best place to do it.

I had an easier time doing anything else is GTA 4, San Andreas, and Vice City.

The Ambulance was the first thing I did to get the infini-sprint and avoid aggressive gangs (that come later).

Rules I went by:
* Lower speed near intersections to avoid NPCs plowing in front or the side of you (if you have a patient onboard you lose time on impacts)
* Plan your trajectories to avoid toppling on the side
* On every level start - pop in the map and plan your routes to most effectively collect patients (3 patients max per run)
* As much as possible avoid collisions as that shaves off precious seconds thus in many cases taking things slower actually saves you time.

Add some luck and patience and you should be fine.

Yes they are difficult, you just have to be resilient and keep trying. It took me a good 5 or 6 attempts to nail it. As Twinsen says, take it slow! Know when to put your foot on the brakes and when to put pedal to the metal. It comes with practice as you learn the map and the ambulance's handling. Definitely do it before the gangs start becoming aggressive too; once the mafia have shotguns, you're screwed

I completed GTA3 today having bought the big patched trilogy a week ago - I just found it really frustrating tbh, overly aggressive gangs when your free roaming / taxi missions etc. I forgot how many of the missions are timed... very annoying. Thing is I don't remember it being like this in the original or perhaps I'm older and I suck ... one thing is for sure the vehicles damage into flames too easily.

I kinda glad to be done with it and now I can enjoy the glorius vice city and san andreas.
