Custom Controls (Xbox one Controller possibly?)

Does anyone know how to modify the controls so that I can use an Xbox One Controller to play. If not, does anyone know how to change the keys on keyboard and mouse. The game states that pressing the space-bar allows for sprinting, but I see no difference.

The input function at the startup page makes very little sense to me.

After further analysis (fancy way of saying I made an error), I see that it says the shift is to sprint. But I would still like to discover if there is any way to map a controller to this game if anyone has done so.
