LOL yes I remember RB. I started my flying addiction with Chuck Yeagers Air Combat. Now pass me my Geritol.

Yup, checking in. This game is Red Baron in VR and I am happy with this :-)

With the first computer my family bought when I was a young kid, we also bought Red Baron, A10 Tank killer, Aces over Europe and Aces of the Pacific.
I absolutely loved all of them, but Red Baron above all, both the combat the variety the many different aircrafts etc, but also the way the campaign was structured to feel like sort of military service. It would likely not hold up to scratch nowadays, and I really don't want to tarnish my memory of the game by going back and playing it, but Warplanes: WW1 fighters is a near perfect spiritual successor! :)

I am so old, I had a flyer sim, cant member the name, but the people were little stickmen with big white bobbleheads and the planes were big white T's, it was 3D, or rather, the SVGA/CGA equivalent, no textures at all, colored primitives, probably made in darkbasic or something like that. It was so much fun, similar to sopwith or this one in gameplay, also a lot like Tribes gameplay (2 airbases, 2 teams, attack and defend, scrimmage, die, respawn, get a new plane, repeat til ur eyes pop out)

You could also shoot your pistol and eject with parachute to go commando.
that game was awesome

Yup I loved me some Red Baron. I even played for several months online using the Sierra Network's hub. I also loved Wings on the Amiga 500 which goes way way back.

I remember playing WWI battles on Sierra Online with a dial up modem as well as Chuck Yeager Advanced Flight Trainer and Falcon AT.

Red Baron 2 was awesome, i think the original developer got the rights but hasn't done anything with it yet. A new Red Baron would be great on a more modern engine.

Yeah it was a fantastic game along with Knights of the sky mentioned above..Closest thing to the Red Baron games but with a more modern engine etc IMO is Wings Over Flanders fields by OBD it’s fully SP, brilliant AI, nearly 80 flyables, great mod and dev support. A belting sim .. http://www.overflandersfields.com/
