I absolutely loved all of them, but Red Baron above all, both the combat the variety the many different aircrafts etc, but also the way the campaign was structured to feel like sort of military service. It would likely not hold up to scratch nowadays, and I really don't want to tarnish my memory of the game by going back and playing it, but Warplanes: WW1 fighters is a near perfect spiritual successor! :)
You could also shoot your pistol and eject with parachute to go commando.

Yeah it was a fantastic game along with Knights of the sky mentioned above..Closest thing to the Red Baron games but with a more modern engine etc IMO is Wings Over Flanders fields by OBD it’s fully SP, brilliant AI, nearly 80 flyables, great mod and dev support.
