What the hell? (Djedefre boss fight)
I am so unbelievably frustrated - am I not getting something? Is my game buggy? After playing the game for several hours on "intended" and finding it mostly to be too easy, yet extremely enjoyable, now I hit a brick wall with the egyptian boss. I'm already fighting him for about AN HOUR now, which should be about 50 tries so far, hearing OVER AND OVER AGAIN that I should treat him like the burning man, and NOT ONCE have I managed to even take HALF of his life.

Is this some sick joke of the developers? Is the rest of the game unfinished and they're trying to fend off players, so that they may not notice ?
What IS this?
The most viable way so far has been to cheese him, by just standing next to him and circling him, abusing his wonky movement ai. Is this intended?
Every other movement seems undoable and ends in a one-to-three-hit - kill.

Just to make it clear - I LOVED the game so far. It's really great fun! I just can't understand the decisions that must have went into this boss design, nor the lack of discussions about it here in the forum.

that boss fight just wasnt fun IMO. the boss teleports, the melee attacks feel awkward and floaty. I enjoy this game but it made me realize how tacked on the max payne mechanics are. They work in that game because cover and angles are important and youve got enemies that are fighting with you in ranged encounters. The enemies in this game just dont elevate or synergize with the bullet time mechanics. Things either run/ jump at you or teleport away and you have to chase them.

I did it 6 times or so until I killed him. The way I did it, I used rapid fire weapons and focused on his thigh pad. When he came for me with his sequence of strikes, I dodged ONTO HIM, so he kept going while I had a little time for reload or something. When he exposed a weak point, I froze time and rapidly chipped at his health. This is a solid strategy, you just have to respond to two things. One, you have to know how to dodge that strikes by heart. He comes onto you, you dodge onto him, every time. Two, there is that 1-2-dash strike that he starts doing after that. Lethal attack. There is an audio cue. You have to Hifi Rush that ish and dodge onto him after you count the two.

I thought this was a FIRE battle. Baffling difficulty spike, yes. But a high point of the game for me.

I would agree with those who said it was a low point for them.
It was hard, but more than frustrating. getting one-hi-kill on a sponge with very little cue before those attack was no fun, and quite different from the main gameplay.
I felt I was not skill checked on something I had to learn in the rest of the game, just had to die until i learn the time window by heart between his attack.

I just beat it and it was an ultimately extremely frustrating and bad experience. The more so in the middle of an incredible game, with a near perfect introduction.
But, man. That just a ♥♥♥♥ spongy boss that you need to cheese by spam rolls and abusing its animation.

It was a bit frustrating but you just need to read his tell for when he's about to warp to you and roll as soon as he starts. And when he runs at you swinging, roll to him, or to the side but not away, or he'll still run into you. Its still difficult though because of the extra enemy spawns but he acatually kills them himself when he swings so its possible to ignore some of them and let him kill them. I found in general that trying to heal slows you down too much and guarantees you die, so its best to just focus on him and dodge, try not to get hit a second time if he gets you. second and third stage are the most dangerous as thats when he warps, especially the third. 4th is just a victory lap because he's slow and pretty harmless...

I found using the rifle to hit his weakpoint did huge chunks of damage.

I figured out I needed to roll INTO him and it became easy

thanks for the tips all. I came back to it after a few days off and beat him after 6 more attempts. I'm so glad now I can continue and finish this game soon.

I'm late to the party, but after like 40 minutes I discovered that your shots do much more damage if you're using slow motion. So rolling into the boss, and then using slow motion to land shots made the fight far easier.

This boss was hella hard until learning that rolling around him is not the way, but directly into him which is crazy at first.

Also when you die after cut scene, you restart the whole fight again...

So, the Dive+Slow Mo combo button is a complete gimmick and honestly get's you killed 90% of the time after the first few missions. But for me the reason that this bossfight was really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard was BECAUSE the bullet time and the dive are so universally useful against all other enemies prior to this and in a lot of cases the roll just isn't, it doesn't move you far enough away and you can't shoot the guy you where dodging in the head as you're recovering like you can with a dive.

I will say it *feels* very scuffed if you're not doing it in the right way, diving works just enough of the time to make you feel like it's the viable way to dodge and you're bad at the game for getting it wrong. He doesn't turn on a dime to hit you after a dive EVERY time but he will do it enough to kill you before you kill him. It also looks like buggy as he glides across the floor to find you. I can certainly see where people's frustrations come from, thankfully I'm fighting this boss after not having played the game in awhile so I was checking the controls to remember what moves.
