Endings Achievements [Spoilers]
I just got the less common of the 2 endings, and I'd like to earn the more common one. Does anybody know if there's a way to do so without completely replaying the whole game and saving every hostage?

I've never tested this, nor will I. I wonder if the developer could clue us into the threshold for # of hostages killed before you get the "Bad" ending.

Lead dev already explained that in another thread. The ending depends on whether you kill or save most, if not all hostages.

Hello!

10 is the limit. So if you want to get the other ending, 11 hostages in your run are going to have to die.

Oh yes, I understand that, Bonickhausen, thanks. But I am mostly asking if there's a way to sorta unkill all the hostages I killed without replaying the whole game? I'm super close to 100% achievement completion, but didn't quite have the time to replay the whole game.

So, here's the deal-
You can't un-kill the hostages in-game. Normally you'd have to start a new save.

However, it is possible to edit the save file manually to change that.

Here's how you do that:
  1. Go to C:/Users/YourUserName/AppData/LocalLow/Strange Scaffold/El Paso Elsewhere
  2. Open a file named "savedata.sv4" with notepad (or Notepad++ if you have that!)
  3. Search for three "DeadHostages" entries and change their numbers back to 0.
  4. Save the file and open the game.

Done! That should do the trick.

I got the "Scars Fade" ending (which I guess the bad one), despite only 1 hostage died. DeadHostages variables in savedata.sv4 has values of 1, 0, 0 respectively.

Is this a bug?

Nope. That's the "hostages lived" ending, that would generally be in the "good ending" slot, even though it feels like the worse outcome that makes less sense for the character as presented.

I see. And agreed.

Huh? James has that whole monologue about how "dying good" is easy, but "living good" is almost impossible - and he's fixated on that one good day with Draculae until he remembers another that has nothing to do with her. Even with the drawbacks of vampirism, that option gives James the hope of "living good is forever" while also leaving open the possibility that he might not follow through.
