this gotta be the most stiff, wooden gave i've played in a long time. none of the stats matter, you'll die in one hit anyway. the difficulty is sky high, and there's not even a difficulty selection so you're stuck with dark souls mode.

It's good but not worth 15, even for being early access and sorta short. The random missions aren't good enough to be replayable.

Certain missions are monstrous overturned and long Godless affairs of having to do lots of work all over again if you die once leading to very slow and careful hacking playstyles to be monstrously awful to play with as a sudden and unexpected deaths to something you never saw before leads to endless frustration.

A clear example of this was when I had a friend over to play the game, and he really enjoyed just hacking through an entire level before even moving out of spawn. I never did this before and was shocked and surprised he could get as far as he did just fiddling with the hacking console, however, this was that one sniper level so he just got shot once, and all that work and time was wasted and it sorta sucks because he's cool and whatnot, and I could sorta get that he was speeding through what he previously did and playing a little more carelessly just to get to where he was after being killed to something he didn't know or couldn't understand without getting hit by it out of the blue. I never had trouble with the snipers, though, I had trouble with that one long range hacker at the mission builder level that targeted me and killed me when I was in a place I couldn't defend myself or evade the hacking thing.

Imagine running hotline Miami and having to do an entire 3 stage level all over again again because you died on floor 3 out of 3.

Also sometimes RNG makes it so enemies take on a reddish color that mimics the color they make when they die which is real ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful when that kills you after a mission's nearing being completed

Just sorta unfun and painful near the end. You can't really spec into a single class and have a fun time and apart from the elevators that move your spawn point around, it's just punishing and frustrating.

Some abilities are OP and let you skip the entire level, bypassing any resistance. It's fun to break the game now and then, but these abilities make everything else unfun and boring in contrast.

Maybe wait for this to go on sale or get completed. The absurdly positive review score is most likely a side effect of the developer nurturing a strange intimate relationship with the community instead of making a really good product. If you aren't parasocial and just want a good game, I'd imagine you should just wait for this thing to be cheaper. It's really good game with lots of character but certain flaws just make it a real pain to play through in ways that can't be overlooked, ones that presented themselves to not only me, but my friend and frustrated either of us.

The OST is great and the story and characters are cool too, though, for those, you could really look up a silent play through and the OST on youtube.

I hate to be that guy. I read most of the other reviews and understand that a ton of people love this game. However, it didn't really do it for me. Maybe I'm doing something very wrong. I "got" the hacking pretty much right away. However, the first mission is actually harder than many others, you easily end up many millions in debt (your debt goes up by a percentage of the total every day and there's a resurrect cost of 1 million when you die, and you have 1 million in debt to start the game...I very quickly get into a state where there's probably no hope of ever paying off the debt because it's impossible to make that much in-game money through missions).

(if you're younger, ignore the above - it's probably just me getting older and slower - it'll happen to you too eventually, lol)

The hacking element is SO cool here, but the difficulty is just way too high. You have to play each level PERFECTLY, and it's just not fun to restart the same level the 30th time. If we had a few less things to track and a little more forgiveness, this would be an easy rec. As it is, I can't think of a single person I know that would like this game.
