Non-lethal options
First, let me say a BIG thank you for the devs for bringing back my favorite genre of games. And here I thought it has been lost and long forgotten!

I noticed that there's an option to switch a skill to a non-lethal option. Is there a reason to do that? It doesn't seem to make the skill any different (unless I'm missing something)?

It was mostly used for a few challenges, where you go for no kills. I think it could also be used in a place where you knew guards were coming, since if people were dead they would sound the alarm (I think knocking them out did not do an alarm, I'm not sure, I never used it much).

It is mostly for personal preference (not wanting to kill anyone).
There will be some challenges that also involve not killing anyone. But other than that it doesnt give you an advantage or anything like that.
It does make the game a bit more challenging since you have to tie up the bodies afterwards.

In Desperados III, you couldnt kill civilians but could knock them out and im assuming you will need to use that in this game as well

Also in Desperados 3, if a guard saw a knocked out civilian or guard, they'd walk over to them to untie them. This let you lure guards away from their posts in situations where luring, distracting, etc. wouldn't work. It also worked on every kind of guard.

Yeah, I hope that doesn't work in shadow gambit, it was a bit too powerful in desperados.

I tried to lure a guard with a tied body in the demo. It doesn't work, the guard will sound the alarm when close to the body, just like if it were dead.

I had no idea of Non Lethal either til I got to the ship; so half the mission I was killing everyone.

End of mission was a recap, I do not know if those are coins acquired during the mission such as: You took 30minutes to complete this mission here is X coins; ooh I see you knocked everyone out; here is X coins. Or if those or check boxes

So yeah I am curious if knocking everyone out will actually have an advantage over killing everyone? I mean I guess we will see in less than 24hours but I was curious if it was gonna punish us on the first mission of the game. If the 1st mission of the game is like the demo; Im going in hopefully being able just to knock everyone out lol

No advantage :)
You can do it for fun and to have a slightly greater challenge since it is a bit more difficult to get rid of the bodies.
But all skills have a non-lethal alternative, if you want to play that way.

I don't remember seeing a non-lethal option for the mind control possession ability. Did I miss this, was it left out by mistake, or is this something you can't do if you're playing non-lethal? Regardless, since the game is generally balanced around not assuming any one crew member, it should be possible to just avoid that crew member. I think he's utterly useless except a coin toss if you don't want to kill people.

As far as i remember leaving a mind controled body is always non-lethal

That skill always counts as non-lethal. When leaving the body, the guard is tied up and not killed.
Sometimes non-lethal kill animations are quicker than kill animations. It was especially noticeable with Hector and Kate in desperados 3

Are there any challenges that count actual kills?
