Is the game too easy or did I just got gud?
Cursed difficulty. Up to Bark and Bramble now right after you unlock the character number 3. Have Afia, Toya and Pinkus. I'm cutting through the enemies like they are nothing. The previous levels also felt way too easy by comparison to previous Mimimi games.

The last time I played this kind of game was over 2 years ago. When I played Aiko's Choice. That felt pretty tough on max difficulty. And the level design looked much better. I should have forgotten all the little tricks by now. All the other Mimimi games felt a lot harder than Shadow Gambit.

I guess this was to be expected when I saw the open ended nature. Pick your characters and pick your missions. Impossible to properly balance max difficulty without knowing what tools the player has available. The linear design was superior.

I'd agree that it's easier, but I'd say that's probably the consequence of giving players free choice of character. The levels have to be balanced in such a way that you can complete them with any combination of characters, rather than being able to concoct harder sections as you wouldn't always be able to guarantee that you had the characters able to beat them.

Yeah, I'm ~8 hours in and I'm starting to lose interest.

The characters are so overpowered that I'm not even using their kits. You can clear any level easily with just crouching and basic attacks of two characters at most. When you use everything it's a cakewalk.

I also really don't care for the crew stories. None of the characters are interesting to me and their stories are just a chore to go through.

Blades of the Shogun was a great game. Desperdaos 3 was amazing. Shadow Gambit is a letdown.

Maps are repeated??? WHAT???

"Bark and Bramble" and "Haggling With a Plant" take place on the same map. The enemies I previously killed have respawned. With seemingly no variation. Same time of day. Uhm... WHAT?

So not only the difficulty is much lower than in the previous games, I now also have to to busywork. 93% positive on Steam somehow.

Is this going to happen later on as well? Different missions on the same map?

The maps are huge, when you "replay the same map" it is usually a very different part of the same map, so its a different experience. Unless... I suppose...if you choose to find your old route, or always kill every enemy on the huge map, or something like that.

I stuck with the game for a while. Finished the DLCs. It is a major step down from Shadow Tactics and Desperados 3. Not a bad game, just worse than those. Finished everything up to the captain's tests. There was some repetition even though I tried to take different paths. Not a big fan of that.

Now I just started the captain's tests. Started with Pinkus, the first one. It sends me to Iron Bay. In the prison area. Which I clearly remember clearing out during Yuki's DLC where I had to steal something. The guard placement is almost identical except for Salazar missing. So far this is the worst example of repetition I have seen.

I deleted this game and won't bother with it.

I'm playing Sumerian Six right now and the gameplay is way better. Levels are a lot tighter and characters aren't as overpowered. You actually have to think a bit and there isn't a pointless boat section where the game attempts to be funny endlessly and fails completely.
