Mercury is super versatile and one of my top picks for a mission I'm actually worried about.
That said, most of the others are really strong in at least one key way.
Suleidy's Cover seeds make impossible situations suddenly doable (I JUST swiped a mission objective from right under a Prognosticar's nose with it, shaving off like 15 minutes of work securing the entire zone so I could kill it). She is a must-have for me almost every time.
Toya's kills are really fast and you can basically bank one for later with his teleport (on top of calling acolytes into bushes for you to kill)
Afia's a very reliable assassin, and her time stop can't be ignored by Commisars.
Theresa needs setup and recovery, but both her blind shot and her sniper shot make dealing with some situations delightfully easy.
And Gaelle....Okay, I don't SUPER like her 90% of the time I take her on a job, to be honest. But the 10% of the time her cannon comes in handy, it's a godsend. (Like sniping a tricky target with Theresa, then loading her into the cannon so she can get shot up to retrieve it)
I have not unlocked the last two guys yet.
in my opinion john is the strongest of the base game. Basically all characters are good if you know how to use them. just pick who you like.
just some info to gaelle:
- she uses her cannon to carry corpses, which gives her no movement penalty.
- her firecrackers are a lure like toyas birds voice but throwable like pinkus coins making
them super versatile
- she can use the noise of guards shot into a bush as distraction
- her pull in ability is only limited by line of sight making it great to get others out of sticky
situations
- with the upgrade her melee attack is the fastest in the game (2.2s)
Suleidy
Quentin
Theresa
John
Gaelle
Toya
Pinkus
Afia
But honestly, Afia is great! The characters are all fantastic and are all the best at *something* It also depends a lot on your playstyle, if you don't care about getting spotted as long as you survive the resulting alarm you'll have a different favoriate to someone who wants to minimise loads to someone who wants to minimise time to complete level.
Also the combinations of them matter a lot. Gaelle can shoot someone to higher elevation. Quentin can bring someone from lower elevation up to his level. Between them there are places in the game that you can skip enormous amounts of difficulty by using them to move your whole team, which neither could achieve individually.
Toya and Quentin are borderline useless in my eyes with John, Zagan and Pinkus marking the top. Yet in this very threat, we see people ranking these characters almost in opposite order.
Really interesting seeing how different characters resonate with peoples playstyles.
Yeah, I was just thinking that too. THIS is how you know you have a phenomenally balanced game.
a few days ago I was forgetting to bring Afia with me since I was never using her, and I just realized now that I was using her almost exclusively for the past half hour. Suleidy as a forward attacker isnt much to brag about but indispensable as a support player, send someone in with their ranged attack and have Suleidy throw a bush on them, by the time their attack is done, they are hidden and the body is gone... so clean!
so, this run i'm going to make him my last unlock. Nothing personal John, but I want to see a different strategy
(except the Kills that require 2+)
And paired up with Suleidys bushes, Quentin can get even closer, to make it easier to get the bolt back
gotta clean this place sometime indeed!
carry on mateys! RRRRRRR!
