Activating crew quests?

This is probably me just being stupid but so far I've only managed to activate one (Pinkus) and I'm a fair chunk through the game. What am I missing?

If you're on the Marley and open the objectives list (B by default I believe) it should say what you have to do

I have tried that but it doesn't say anything at all about a crew tale. All I have is the list on the upper right with, you can start a crew tale but I just don't understand how to activate it and I can't remember what I did with Pinkus beyond clicking on him and selecting Quests. Now all crew members come back with they have no quests.

I doing something stupid, I just can't work out what it is!

normally you have to talk with someone with the character you want to start the quest with, in most cases its the Marley.

Ah ha, that was me being stupid. I thought you had to get Afia to speak to the crew member not the crew member to speak to Marley. Well there's some more things to do!

Stupid design. "Oh no you dont talk to the specific NPC to start their quest, you talk to another NPC to start another NPCS quest"

Ist it crew tales, or captain trials, the latter are startet from the mirror

Ah OK. I've already done everything with the mirror. I was thinking of something more. thank's
