For Whom the Bell Tolls Badge
Hey, I just had a go, but this badge did not unlock, is there a trick to it? I went in (the Teresa mission) with Teresa, Suleidy and John run around the map and killed only the 7 bell carrying guys (with alarms), have not touched anyone else yet the badge did not unlock :-s So must it be completed without alarms? Or what does the "do not attack" mean? Am I allowed to use knockouts, eventhough it is attacking a guard? What am I missing here? Maybe it cannot be obtained on this map?

its an island specific badge so it can be completed in every mission on this island (gran alcazar in this case). you dont HAVE to trigger the alarms (but you can). do not attack means no melee attacks (lethal and non-lethal) or abilities which knockout/kill a guard. they can still be distradted, lured, etc. however this badge should unlock after finishing the mission in the summary screen. you dont get a message after killing all bell-guards.

other reasons it may not work:
-lower difficulty has less/weaker guards so maybe you need to do it on legend or above
-amount of mission targets varies between missions so you have to do it in a different mission.

does that mean enviromental kills are ok?

Judging from a different map and badge, environment kills count as attacks as well. I don't remember which badge was it, but it conflicted it right away. Ofc, the custodes guarding the tears don't count (at least one, not sure about more).

First I completed it on "Into the Lion's Den" and it didn't count, maybe because of the Ignacia forced reloads at the end or because you can't attack anyone at all (except the bell guys and custodes obviously) during the whole mission as the badge is given at the end. It unlocked, when the bell guys were the only ones I attacked during the whole mission.

Well, my attempt Teresa Lament version of Alcaraz:
- alarm went off several times
- no ko's, no deaths of regular enemies
- 7 killed alarm bell guys
- I do not remember any used distractions
- no badge failed or completed progress on screen (and nothing in the summary)
- no environmental kills (only snipes / rifle kills)

Maybe it is the guard density after all? Can anyone remember how many of them are there? I killed 7.. Or Teresa's Lament version is bigged / unsuitable for this mission, eventhough it should be possible to get it since it is an island badge?

On nerechtemeresh is an island badge that requires you to kill two kindred on the opposing site of map on which they normally would be. but if you go into johns mirror mission there are no kindred. so you cant do island badges in every mission. i dont know if thats the case in this mission, i just wanted to explain that this problem exists.

also it could just be that the badge is bugged.

Don't know the number of them but I did it on Ignacia Unleashed on easiest difficulty. Killing the bell guys after the whole map became stunned. I possibly haven't triggered the alarm, but am not sure, my crewmate was just about to be spotted. Received the badge in mission summary.

Yeah, I understand that and it is a valid point, however I'd assume if you kill 7 bell guys and there are only 7 bell guys on the map that would count as badge completed. And if a different version of the same map had only 1 bell guy, killing him first would result in the same as there are no other bell guys spawned. If there are none like in the mission you mentioned then it is a different reason, cannot complete the objectives of the badge whatsoever so you gotta complete it elsewhere. But yeah, a valid point.

I tried another run, this time on the version where you snatch the head and once again, 7 bell guys (same ones), killed them all first with alarms, no badge. Maybe the interference of the reloading as the mission progresses (main mechanic / story) failed it for me since due to this, everyone was pretty much alive... Well, I do not really know what is wrong with my attempts, thats probably the main thing :-(

Finally, I have been able to finish this badge. I had to play it on Ignacia's version of this map (Ignacia Unleashed), it did not work for me on Into the Lion's Den or Teresa's Lament. I did not try to complete it on Pinkus' Duty.

I snuck around, attacking nobody, to the objective area and only touched the seals (while triggering an alarm as I ran to the seals themselves. After that I finished the objectives and only then killed 7 bell guys and noone else (might be important since I killed a lot of guys on previous attempts on different versions but only after killing the bell guys) except the Custodes so I can escape. That way the badge finally unlocked for me. No idea if the requirement is to only kill bell guys for the whole map or if the badge only works on this version of the map, but if anyone else is struggling, I suggest doing this.

As I wrote before, killing them first might not be enough. The way it's written one can't really tell if you just need to kill them first (at which point mission acomplished and you can continue killing anyone you want) or attack no-one else but them during the whole mission (except custodes guarding the tear). The second one worked for me.

ok then its no wonder that you didnt get the badge. if its written attack no one that means attack no one for the whole mission except custodes and mission targets.

Yup, thank you, in the end it was you who pointed me to the right answer. I was doing the map one mission at a time so I tried it on one version then on another and to my "luck" the Ignacia mission was the last. But now that I know I must not kill anyone else not just before all bell guards are dead but during the whole mission, everything makes sense. The wording of mentioned badge is slightly misleading but all's good :-) Thanks!

The wording of the badge is slightly misleading, it can be understood in at least 2 ways tbh. It did not occur to me that I must not kill anyone during the whole mission till after the badge was awarded to me. I understood it as do not kill anyone before every single bell guard is dead then do as you wish ie "kill all bell guards wihout attacking anyone else".

Anyway, thanks for your replies on this topic / badge.

I prefer night mission but in mission Into Lion’s Den is impossible because you have to take the head from the table which is heavily guarded. So I reached the badge in Teresa Lament . it’s pretty easy, kill the guy with bell from distance with teresa’s crossbow, wait until alarm ends, take quentin and use rod from distance to get the body- it get’s also back teresa’s crossbow bullet or whatever it is. repeat 6 more times, finish mission and get your badge

To everyone still wanting to get this badge, there is another (a little bit odd) way. I was trying the Teresa's Lament mission with only Teresa. At first I killed only all the bell guys with her rifle (not attacking anybody else) and after that I tried to simply run from the nearest shadow to the confessor to talk with him, but the guards in the area spotted me (of course) and shot me. Than the "mission failed" screen appeared, but I also received the badge. After this fail I simply unleashed the last memory and started killig everyone else on the map to clear my path to be able to finish the main objective. I hope this will help someone.
