is this game aimed at a female audience?
I like the setting, gameplay and graphics, but somehow I have the feeling that I'm not the desired consumer for the content offered.

so far all the main characters are women, which basically wouldn't be a problem if it didn't feel so forced. maybe that will change as the game progresses... but at the moment i don't feel like i'm the one this product is trying to appeal to. I would have preferred a more balanced cast.

I mean, the crew and the secondary characters can be as colorful as they want, but unfortunately they aren't at the moment...

I just have my doubts that this is another one of those games where one gender is celebrated beyond measure and the other is looked down on in a way that has kind of become the fashion these days.

If that's the case, I'd rather know in advance and refrain from a possible purchase.

But i didnt get the strong female feeling of Afia. She cant swim and she is basically useless to the crew. I think they did a good job writing her so far

Amen to that.

It's all about "diversity" and "inclusion" these days from the bigger studios.

Well in the demo you got a male japan pirate, and if you want you can decide to just play with him the mission. So its not really only about female.

You also can play the fanstastic character Pinkus von Presswald on board of the ship.

I have a similar impression, but it's probably a sign of these times that you have to please everyone. In time, games will have more than 2 genders to choose from, and white male protagonists will be on the decline. Shadow Tactics was a great example of how well you can implement male/female characters without feeling that one of them is favored in any way. The topic is as wide as a river and probably not worth delving into. If the game is good, it will defend itself by good gameplay.

There's literally 4 female and 4 male characters. what are you even talking about? You can treat any character like your main character even if Afia is a leading character to the story.

Dunno what the OP is on about, The characters are great. It's simply no issue whatsoever.

And I say that as a CIS (no, it's not a slur like that idiot Elon thinks) Man

The characters feel like they fit well so far.

If you're weirded out by female characters, then that sounds like a you problem.

I hear some of them might be gay, too. Better run for the hills.

This is art imitation real life for MOST people who actually know women and gay people and even black and Asian people! Bummer that inclusion and diversity make y'all get so emotional.

They cater to some loud leftist activists and put modern politics in fantasy video games. I dont like it, and I will not support it with my money. No emotions here, just pure logical calculation.

LOL, getting freaked out by the very existence of female characters has nothing to do with logic. You're the one who has problems with anyone who isn't a white cis het anglo male. Maybe it's time to grow up some, rather than airing your archaic attitude in public.

Signed, a white, cis, het, anglo male.

Your post is the kind of thing that makes the writer feel extremely embarrased upon reading it by some random chance in the future.

Seriously, try touching some grass and growing up in silence, your future self will thank you for that.

Noone is freaked on anything. Tell these lies to yourself more. Also there is no cis or other bs new words made up without meaning. There is normal, and there is not.

I've seriously tried to phrase my question in a way that doesn't offend anyone, but some of you still feel the need to insult me. but actually i shouldn't be surprised... i've only played the demo so far and in it almost all the characters were exclusively female... hence my question if the cast will be a bit more balanced later on. if so, fine. that answered my question.

in no sentence did i express hate or dislike for female characters or minorities in general. however, being accused of this shows me more how biased some of you are.

I'm just sick of these modern media stereotypes of the strong, independent woman. not because i have anything against women or strong women, but because this depictions are often just an exaggerated form of the same characteristics that are so often criticized as toxic in men.

Yea, keep telling yourself that. What YOU like is normal, and everything else is scary and weird. Poor thing.

Where in the demo does a female character do something like that, tho? I agree that tropes get old after a while (read some Robert Heinlein to see how not to write women). But I didn't get any sense of anything like that in this, tho I haven't finished the whole demo.
