How is the Game compaired to Shadow Tactics/Desperadoes 3?
I enjoyed my time with Shadow Tactics, but didn't spend tons of time on it. Don't think I ever finished it, got distracted by another game and never went back.

Ignoring the theme of their previous games, how does the core gameplay compare? Pretty much the same or a much better version of their previous tactics games?

I'm an old fan of the genre and they definitely understand what makes these games fun. Every character's kit is exceptional in its own way and picking upgrades has been pretty difficult so far because they're all such powerful upgrades/additions to a character's kit.

Levels are built in really clever ways so that, so far, it always feels like you have a route depending on your team composition.

Absolutely loving it so far.

I prefer the other 2 games, they felt more like a puzzle to solve. This game feels much easier due to how much freedom it gives you and less satisfying, even on the highest difficulty.

Still a good game though.

Like dumb down easier, or just more forgiving overall?

Not sure what happened really. I loved Shadow Tactics. But this one is extremely woke. Somewhere along the way they must have brought on some new writers to start pushing their politics. Hopefully they get the bad eggs out of there before the next release

I would say both. There are way too many different ways to get through that not much thinking is required.
I like having multiple solutions but this is too much.

I could see that happening. I'm playing the demo now. Although it is early, it feels more like a power fantasy than a puzzle. Like what the previous post mention. Feels more like Dishonored. Does increasing the difficulty help?

What does woke mean in regards to this game?

I'm having a blast. Feels like the most refined version of these games to date. The only thing I guess could be even remotely construed as woke about it is the doctor character. She speaks with just a modern African American accent and is a bit of a brat. Which feels weird when everyone else is hamming it up and having fun with it. The main character feels like a mix between the voodoo lady from Monkey Island and Calyspo from PotC which fits great.

As someone who didn't really click with BG3 and is not hyped for Starfield, this game has been like mana from the heavens.

Increasing difficulty adds more enemies to the setups and/or replaces existing enemies with stronger ones.
In addition, you have less room for erros. Guards detect you faster and your crewmates have less health. Also they have less ammo for the pistols.

Later missions will also get more difficult compared to the first half of the game.

If you are experienced with the genre I would suggest to pick a harder difficulty.

the alarm in this game is the easiest version so far. Reinforcements are only called if threre is a special guard that can do so. After the alarm is over these reinforcements also disappear again and dont stay around patrolling like in D3. This is combined with characters which have way more mobility themselves or can move around teammates over a large distance and also let bodies disappear.

As much as I dislike the this game being easier, I think the alarm change is a good one. In the other games an alarm going off was an immediate reload every time, whereas now you can actually have an alarm go off and be ok with it. Its a bit less frustrating overall, but yeah, it is easier.

in my opinion it should screw over certain characters more like the anchor guy shouldnt be able to be in the below. i already had enough occasions where he got detected during the kill animation and i just dove to the below because this skill has basically no cooldown and the enemies cant do anything about it, making the whole situation just a 30s delay.

i also think the alarm is better than in previous games, but the easier alarm combined with the more mobile characters is a bit to much.

Lolollll wow this made me laugh.... I'm sorry, woke? This game's main characters are all wacky undead zombies with nonsensical things like anchors attached to their backs or flesh made of plants lolll

Is this one of those things where once upon a time someone shared an irrational fear about the game and then despite no basis, those against "woke media" decided to signal their distaste for that sort of thing by echoing that irrational concern?? Cuz Ive seen that once or twice before & can see no other way anyone would REALLY look at **THIS** game and think it looks "woke." There's not a thing about it that's based in any sort of reality, lol. They're friggin skeletons!! 🤣

Wow.

Yeah, John is just a bit too powerful, his dive needs a longer cooldown.

I think the game is very awesome and a breath of fresh air in the genre. Not that the old formula was getting stale, but getting your own choices on what crew to take with you on a mission and then getting to choose where to even start the mission is an awesome addition. There's even incentive to choose characters you haven't taken along in a while, and whenever I do that I keep finding new synergies between their kits. I don't mind the generally lower difficulty because every time I go on a mission with a new crew I have to think about my approach differently, which is the fun of the game for me.

The game is still really good, but compared to the other game, the maps are much less good and the game is VERY easy
