Just not a good thing to put into the game without ANY hints whatsoever, especially since it gives you access to some more game play and equipment.
they are in no way shape or form neccessary unless you care for all achievments
nigh all of the top-tier equipment (optional) is tied to "other" activities, like special bosses, etc.
i went through the game with 2 open eyes and still managed to miss one, yet did everything else and my party lineup was frankly invincible at the later stages of the game.
there are 2 things you got to remember if you realy want to get OP:
a) stealing always hits, stealing works only once per enemy (in the current battle) and especialy when it comes to main- and sidebosses: always steal
b) nigh every enemy even bosses can be captured to summon/cast spells
and some of these boss spells are very, very strong (like casting 2 major buff spells at once)
c) to level your whole roster it is enough to swap inactive team-members in and do 1 action (doesn't matter what) for em to still earn exp; like swap once during a boss fight, etc. and everyone still gets max exp (up to lvl 40), which makes maxing out the whole cast pretty neat
d) you got one party member with basicaly infinite aoe-attacks, and items that proc status effects...do the math
You can swap party members during combat? I only three in my team now, the main guy, Boom Boom, and the girl. And I'm about level 15 or so. I thought I was getting close to the end, but apparently not even close if you can get to level 40!
I have never tried to steal, but I will now. I figured that all I would get would just be more consumable items that I already have a ton of. And I forgot that you can try to capture bosses. Oh well, I already did some of them so too late now.
I just got to that large flower in the desert, picked it, and started a fight. He one shot my dudes like I was made of tissue paper. Either I'm REALLY bad at this game and haven't leveled enough (but it's pretty linear so I don't see how I could level up any more by this time), or you are supposed to come back to that flower much later in the game.
Who are you referring to in your part D above, please? And what do you mean "items that proc status effects"?
Re that oasis boss fight, it's related to a later side quest, rated at level 29 difficulty, if I remember rightly.
