Second Event Boss Fight Softlock

Right before the fight with Silicarnage you have to choose your party, I've tried many combinations to see if I could get past but every time it freezes after the first other member after you speaks up. I previously suffer from the tutorial softlocks and post battle softlocks so I had already previously had to wait for an update to be able to progress. The person who speaks up is either Alpha, Kirb, or Flamegirl depending on who is in the party.

This appears at the end of the output log and looks relevant.

InfiniteWrench.Gameplay.BattleGroup must be instantiated using the ScriptableObject.CreateInstance method instead of new BattleGroup.

I'm also having this issue. I'm guessing all that can be done is just to wait around until it gets patched? Pretty unfortunate.

I had that issue today while trying to do some routing. I think the only way to progress right now is to lose to the minions. I also had the same issue when I loaded up my file with the final fight.

I have an update that may help you and some others out!
I was having some of what I thought to be unrelated trouble with Risk of Rain and upon finding the solution to that it also appears to have fixed the boss fight softlock.

If it isn't a coincidence, the issue has something to do with controller drivers (For my case Vjoy)
The fix that I did was to just disable it in the device menu
>Right click start > open device manager > check the human interface devices > disable the game controller.(mine was Vjoy, your's could be something else)

it worked for me and I hope the same for anyone else that's having this issue

(it's also worth noting that I wasn't even playing with controller, I've only played on keyboard)

Since I last played, an update came out and I had done reinstall of windows. Last time I played with a Gamecube controller but this time it was a PS3 controller. The divers may have been at fault like you said then. I had tried playing without it plugged in back then but it didn't work so I dismissed that. I was able to beat the game with only one crash after starting back up the other day. There were other bugs but nothing game breaking like the constant softlocks I had last time.
