Similar games ?
Great game, only drawback is that after 10-15 hours it becames repetitive. So I wonder, are there any similar games out there ? By similar I mean space strategies which cut mundane 'clerk chores', allowing player to focus on the big picture ?

Not really. The closest I can think of Paradox games, particularly Crusader Kings and Stellaris, though I don't have much experience with the latter. Really this game feels like a Paradox game, but with all the grand strategy gameplay elements stripped out.

We draw inspiration from a lot of different games.

The Last Federation is probably the most similar in sense of theme. You also slowly guide civilizations to develop in one direction or the other. But they also have a lot of micromanagement and a bullet-hell tactical strategy component, which is kind of the opposite of Fermi.

Gameplay-wise Reigns , Democratic Socialism Simulator or Suzerain are a bit similar. All are more casual strategy / management games that look at the big picture and less on clerk chores.

Also we looked a lot on strategy games with shorter playtimes. My favourites are Slipways and Sigma Theory.

And since Fermi is sometime played a bit like an idle game you can find a bit of Plague Inc there too.

The Last Federation was not one of the games I thought of when I saw the Fermi Paradox.

To be fair we already had an idea how Fermi Paradox will work before checking out Last Federation. But there are some similarities , basically it is the only other Space God Game out there. Even if the Space God has an Spaceship and all the species are restricted to a single solar system

There are a couple of very indie games that also where a big inspiration for Fermi

Epitaph : https://mkremins.itch.io/epitaph
Seedship : https://johnayliff.itch.io/seedship
Universal Paperclips : https://www.decisionproblem.com/paperclips/index2.html

Also on a high conceptual level Fermi was inspired by the climate change game Fate of the World ( a complex simulation that is changed by a simple game mechanic - in FOTW its a card game and in Fermi the multiple choice gameplay )
