Kakele Online - MMORPG

Kakele Online - MMORPG

Thoughts.
So I tried the web version today in anticipation of the steam launch.

Observations:

There were 25 people online but more than 7 of them were over level 250, one being nearly level 500. So there seems to be a preexisting player base here that will have a lot of advantage over any of us new players. I'm not sure if Steam will be separated, but it seems unlikely given there were so few people online.

There doesn't really seem to be any clear information about the shop. The game advertises as not pay to win but then they clearly have a paid subscription that offers 30% higher exp on kills. Not that this is a deal breaker by any means, but it seems when it's directly advertised as anti p2w there shouldn't be any perks that give other players a disadvantage. (In this case the expedited level gains.)

No paperdolls, this is a straight up RPG maker-style sprite system, you'll probably end up paying for different sprites through cash shop or achievements.

People online were disproportionately Berserkers, I don't know if this was coincidence or if there is some sort of balancing issue with classes.

Has a lot of promise I think, wont stop me from trying the game.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your comments!

There are 4 servers that have been online for more than 1 year. Steam players will join the same servers, and with time we will release new servers where players start from level 1! (For those that are competitive.. We also want to launch a new PvP server soon in Europe!). We have on average 300-400 people online, peaking at 500+ over the weekend, it depends on the time and server. We are working hard to increase our player base, by improving the game and releasing constant updates (once every 1-2 months) and we are working now on some new translations. The game is relatively new, we are a small team, and we have grown from 0 players to where we are right now with a lot of help from the community!

The information about the shop is here: https://www.kakele.io/premium We work under the freemium model: players can play for free, but there is a subscription that gives them a slightly advantage. The advantage is the same for all players. If you have 100$ or 7.50$ to spend ingame, you get the same benefits at the same magnitude. Other things that you can buy for cash are: name changes, server changes, email change, name color change, character light color change, whole-server boosts (all players get it), building your own house to display your items and soon pet name change.

We certainly were inspired by RPG maker, but our graphics are all custom made and licensed for ViVa Kekele only to use. The new outfits can be unlocked by completing tasks and quests, and there are fastpasses for cash. Some of them require a small cash quantity. The outfits are just cosmetic, they don't give players any advantage (other than bragging rights).

Please let us know your thoughts about the game when you play through Steam! We value everyone's feedback and want to improve the game more and more with players feedback. We have a Discord for help, a Facebook group for help and discussions and a Reddit for discussions. Their links can be found on our website!

Best regards

I gave up playing pretty fast after starting. The player houses have trashed the landscape in such a way that going anywhere looks like a garbage dump. Quests are impossible to track and the mobile interfaces just make it insufferable.

Hey Peter. Houses are owned by players, and they can decorate it in any way they want, some look nice and some may not! Quests are all available in the Quest tome. Do you have any suggestions on how to improve the interface and quest tome? Thank you

I'd say retool the PC client for PC operations. Long pressing items for popups is clumsy. Completely redesign the UI for PC with KB/M in mind, tab targeting and fully remappable keys.

But none of this matters if everywhere you go looks like a kid was placing random junk in RPG Maker. The entire landscape is trashed with huge blocks of gotti tiles and items. Maybe it's just me, but I just have an instant turn off for poorly laid cities.

Move them to player-only neighborhoods or something. Then I can avoid that area entirely.
