Packages Workshop
It would be really neat if Steam Workshop support was set up, so people could make custom packages and upload them to the Workshop for others to download from Steam directly.

i agree with this idea, but i'd like to add my thoughts on it.
first off, there could be a similar thing to this, but on the danthemanhathaway website when going to fractal block world.
second, if this were to be implemented, i think some filters could be:

Shooter
Exploration
Building
Linear
Xar mod (using xar as a base and modifying it)
Gravity
Scaling support (Stuff that actually use the shrinking and growing)
Tutorial/example

And possibly even more

adding to this, i notice i crashed trying to change a single texture in xar (/input/Packages/xar/Textures/Blocks/_.png) the game crashes. i feel that there should be something similar to minecraft resource packs where multiple partially-filled packages can be "overlaid" on top of each other and installed simultaneously, with an order of priority (higher up the list, textures overwrite the textures changed/added by the mods lower down) so that mods can be compact, and multiple can be loaded at once
though this may be in the works, i wouldnt know, i havent been keeping track of the discussions

Yes, having a GUI in game for including mods an ordering them is on our to-do list. Right now, you have to modify a .txt file to accomplish this.

What was the crash when you "changed a single texture file"? What do you mean by this exactly? If a texture file is listed by in a texture_names.txt file but the texture file itself does not exist, the program will exit and will show you an error message. Is this the error you are talking about? We would like all errors when loading a package to result in an error message like this and not a crash to desktop.

sorry to bother you about the crash, turns out there was loads more nuance, documentation, and discussion on these things than i knew, i did not include many files required for the texture pack to run, and i seem to have gotten the wrong impression about how texture packs work from another thread. all working now
looking forward to game yeah
