How do you beat the bridge?
[small story spoiler warning!]

There's a section shortly after the train crash where you're crossing a bridge and the zombies swarm from both sides. Up to that point, you've never had a situation where you can't put your back against a wall and defend at chokepoints. You've also just lost all your weapons and only have a couple pistols and a shotgun. You can only hold two explosives.

What am I missing? I survive until I've emptied all weapon clips and explosives but the zombies always get close. Is it just a "git gud" situation? I can't reload fast enough and shoot in both directions with no barricade without being swarmed and they kill you in like 3 swipes.

I tried to put a few mines on the path I came over with, to have the mines take care of the zombies that spawn from that side. And at same time I focus on killing the zombies in front of me, I didnt kill all of them, instead I killed a bunch so that gave me opening to run pass them. This part was kinda hard for me too, died a few times before I managed to finally ran through the horde.

That was the hardest part I thing.
Take 2 explosives with you.
And Bild 3 Mines or more. Place 1 mines on top of the cliff at the Tree where you jump down. Also throw Mines down the cliff.
When you have done everything. jump down go to the middle of the bridge shoot the zombies in front of you. Many of the Zombies in the back will die by the mine. Throw explosives at many zombies. Use the shotgun for large groups. Don’t reload shotgun, that takes too long.
So, I killed all of the zombies.

Yeah this and the bar were the hardest part for me as well. I think molotovs are the helper in emergency. You cant burn yourself, so if you are surrounded by zombies just throw one on the ground, use the time to reload the shotgun and go again.

Agreed on molotovs. Cant damage yourself with them and you can honestly carry four. Two in the wrists and then one in each hand. Trigger lights them up and toss both, then pull out the stored ones and do it again once they get close.

Oh wow, I thought you needed the lighter to light the Molotovs, so I never bothered with them because the lighter would take another wrist slot!

Sadly, I bumped down to Easy to get past the bridge and then bumped it back up. Definitely the hardest part of the game so far...

Tactics is how you beat it. As others have said mines come in very handy, as do a couple of well placed molotovs.

My strategy for dealing with hordes from multiple directions is to slow down one whilst dealing with the other. So in this case a mine will take out the pack leaders on one side allowing you to hack apart the other, then swap over as they start getting closer.

Also, don't forget Buddy, he is a massive help. Even if you stop him from killing the current zombie he is attacking, he will slow them down by taking them to the floor. So I just keep sicking him on the pack leaders charging me.

Mines were useless for me because they barely triggered or triggered late. Someone suggest Molotov's so I used those. Two on my gloves and two in hand. Still took a few more tries but it worked.

keep shooting what's in front of you and moving forward so you won't have to worry about behind. Once you reach the check point , they stop chasing you ,

I didn't really find this one too hard honestly, I just used the shotgun which takes out whole sweeps of them in one shot. I just stood in the middle of the bridge and gave each side a shot once they got close enough. I'm on medium difficulty so that may be why it wasn't so hard though. The one with the pool got me a few times though.

Same!!

I played on the hardest setting as I knew it was short so wanted to get my monies worth. That motel/apartments with the pool got me loads of times. Just when you think you've got the last wave, another one comes blasting out of a different door.

There's a safe place in the motel upstairs, next to the room where you find the Thompson. There, freds can only attack from one direction, unlike the bridge, or even worse, the arena after the bridge, where you are surrounded.
