The current victory list has some information on time to complete:
http://quixotic.adamantyr.com/roa-list.htm
I should call out that the 31-hour time-frame was only possible because one of the spell effects was far too powerful and allowed too much avoidance of combat. This has since been fixed, so I don't think anyone will be able to play through it quite that fast again.
Based on current numbers, 100 hours of play for the average player seems a reasonable estimate.
As far as replay value goes, while the main game and quests won't change too much, you can play through with different party sizes and classes. There are eight NPC's in the game representing each class (excluding the Hero) that can join a party that isn't at the max capacity of 4 as well, and some new dialogue options open when they are in your party.
As far as "Iron man" competitions go, probably the hardest would be to try and win the game with a single character with the rogue class. Not only are you limited on weapons and armor, you have no spell-casting ability and are completely reliant on items for healing. Plus the 10-item limit per character would really start to hurt after awhile.
Which brings me to replay value. Even with exploring Talanua comprehensively and doing everything I can find, I still harbor the wish to play it again. With the knowledge gained from my first playthrough I would do a few things differently, such as composing my party differently, perform tasks in different order, using different ways to achieve certain tasks and so on. Maybe I would also role play my characters more evilly in my second run which is possibility and which also adds to the replay value.
In summary, Realms of Antiquity has the most play time (and fun) I ever had per unit of monetary denomination.
Exquisitly well put, @-=Erekose=-! I wholeheartedly second your words! I missed to mention the different solutions for many quests which are an additional strong motivation to play the game again and see different results.
