The game displayed my Steam account number instead of a name, presumably it's supposed to display the profile name. I'd prefer to input a name at game start. Maybe even choose a portrait!
One of the adviser texts overflows its text box and is cut off.
There doesn't seem to be an overview of your portfolio value, or an average buy price. This is pretty important information for a trading game.
In general, I'd like to see better use of the PC-98 aesthetic. It's mostly just the adviser portrait.
An option to turn off the scanline effect would be appreciated.
Solid concept.
Thanks!
I will be working on new localizations too! I will try to solve the bug with sound today.
I wanted to add a input name at the beginning, but for some reason forgot to add it to the demo and that's why it's just the Steam account name.
In the full game, there will definitely be a name input, I'll think about portraits.
Thank you for the rest of the advice, I will definitely fix everything!
I will update the demo during the festival.
I updated the demo several times and fixed all the bugs that were written to me. I also tried to improve the visual display of Japanese text!
Also now you can turn off the CRT effect.
So if you haven't tried it yet, now is the time - the demo just got better!
I also found that not a single time drinking with friends did their advice pay off--I know it says you're not sure if you believe them, but figure it would work out sometimes. I don't think there were enough opportunities to overcome stress. I never had enough spare money to get any upgrades for comfort, so controlling stress and happiness was relegated to random events. More opportunities or more frequent random events would be more fun in my opinion, even if some were bad. If there isn't significantly more event variety in the full game I think I would get bored pretty quickly, since those were the most interesting moments in the game.
For all my complaining, I did have a lot of fun with the demo. I really like the aesthetic and I like that the palette changes monthly. The music was nice. I was interested enough to still sit and watch the stocks crawl by. I only had one glitch. I was using a controller and it worked perfectly up until the last 2 months of my playthrough, where the cursor disappeared so I had to switch to mouse. Otherwise it worked perfectly. Looking forward to what it's like on full release, and hopefully playing better
Noticed a small bug where if you get a part time job and cannot trade on certain days then stock chart prices freeze on those days. Seems odd that the whole world stops buying stocks while you're at work
Also I'm sure you're on the same page here but please disregard anyone demanding real-world technical analysis tools, the minimalist style of gameplay works great as it is and there are real-world simulators out there for serious traders.
On that note though, it would be cool to see something simple like green/red indicators where you've bought/sold on the chart, or on the exchange screen show the average price you've paid for each stock, just to be sure you're turning a profit when you sell.
Looking forward to seeing where this project goes, definitely buying on release day!
Start button goes to settings for main game, A button shoots balls, dpad left right turns shooter, no other buttons seem to do anything.
Thought I wanted to cash out at 200, but couldn't figure out how, so I tried shooting 150 and got into a forever winning loop. Just keep on gaining. Is there any way out?
Also I didn't find how to save, quit and exit game in menu. I ended up just using Alt F4
Finished my year one, and it's a pretty cool game, going to watch for release.
It would be nice if there was a chart somewhere where I could see how profitable a company is, the report from assistant isn't updated often enough. It's be nice if it displayed in a different view of the stock chart. Then we can see if it's been trending to making more profits or less. Right now, you can only see the stock price, so you can't tell if you'll make dividends unless you buy some and wait for dividend payout. Even if it just said how much dividend you make per unit of stock it would be nice.
Reminds me of Wall Street Kid on Famicom. I wonder if it would be interesting if there was a girlfriend/wife mechanic, where once you start making more money, you could get a girlfriend that would then ask you to spend money on dates and gifts for her, and would get mad at you if you get too stressed out or sick. But dates also reduce stress.
I was a bit confused by how yen is displayed differently in different parts of the game. Or situationally it displayed differently, like it says 2000,00 in one spot but 2,00 million in another spot. I wasn't always sure how much the event purchases would decrease my total current yen. I'm also unclear what the , mark means in yen. In US dollars we have both , and . marks in currency and anything after a . is cents.
1 cent is worth 1/100 dollar.
Used like $1.65 would be 165 cents
If there aren't any cents, it can be left out, like $20
However , is just a marker to help read big numbers, one is placed every three digits like
$100,000,000,000
But I'm not sure if , in game is like this or . mark
Hope this feedback helps. You can ask if anything I said is unclear. Your game has a genuine nice mood with very good music and I hope it does well.
Large amounts are reduced for easier reading. As a rule, when your earnings go into millions, there is no point in worrying about small money.
As you asked for different things:
- improved gamepad control (you can exit pachinko);
- added a button "exit the game" in game menu,
- the exchange now does not freeze during part-time work;
- the volume of sound and music is changed with the mouse;
- icons "Play" and "Pause" from above are now clickable;
- and many other little things that I have already forgotten...
Also would be nice to have things like limits, stop limits, etc.
with that being said I played the game for a bit and then took on that event of a friend starting illegal business when the police got a word of it and I dumped my stocks >> I got fined and despite being cleared of charges I went to jail for one month I think and when I got out it displayed that I had NaN money i couldn't buy anything and when I try to sell some of my stocks I still dont get any money
otherwise love your game can't wait for the full version <3
Can you add the ability to see how much you have earned or lost from a stock purchase based on the current price? Like as a percentage?
And it would be neat it the side scrolling graph had a time reference "ruler" on the bottom so you can more easily visualize how much the stock has gone up and down from day to day.
I enjoy the aesthetic effect you are trying to achieve with the scan lines and crt effect / pixelation and I have a feeling it would be easier on the eyes if it was at a higher resolution of the pixel -ation.
I am glad you added the option to remove that effect for now :)
Keep up the great work!
Questions
My main question is how long are we expecting to be able to play in each game? (like to what year will the game ends) if it has end game then will there be sandbox mode?
Next question is will there be other activities in the shareholder meeting other than speech minigame? I know that we can get into director board later on but I'd like to know if there're variety in options in the meeting since it's once a year thing.
The critique part.
I'd like to have gain/loss percentage like in GTA5. I know it'll be hard since we buy and sell all the time and I know on the top of my head that it'll be gain or loss but the ability to know how much I gained or lost would be nice. Maybe a built in note could help so I can note how much I bought and sold.
Stress management feels like a money sink mechanic more than management, some improvement in this area would be great. I suggest that we can choose what to do during weekends or having vacations etc. Current relaxing activity is still random which partly true if it means hanging out with friends but I can also go out drinking alone too. Some game I can get invited almost every week, some game I didn't get invite till I stressed out lmao.
Bugs
-drug deal, It seems that we can get away quite easily or if there're consequences they're not immediate/ in the demo time frame. Also after I got caught my money bugged and become "NaN" which seems to can't get out or rid off.
-Pachinko. When the ball get hit by obstruction too hard to the side, the ball get stuck in the side.
Good work, keep it up.
