Heroes of Hammerwatch was a roguelike game by the same developers, but with a different gameplay focus; more akin to Diablo or Torchlight than the first game.
Hammerwatch 2 is a sequel to the original, it is NOT a roguelike like HoH was, but more of an open-world RPG similar to Skyrim/God of War etc. where you can advance your character but replaying the game means starting with a new character.
This may or may not be to your individual tastes, but Hammerwatch 2 was never intended to be a roguelike sequel to HoH.
