Some problems using a controller
Can you improve/tighten up the controls for using a controller? I keep finding when I'm in melee it keeps turning my back to my opponent, I don't think it's a skill issue because I don't have this problem in other games. Maybe it needs a bit of aim assist or it's a bit too sensitive or something.
If you could also make it simpler to bind keys it would help as well. I don't mind using the keyboard and mouse for doing things out of combat (eg. using a shovel). Making it so you can drag and drop skills/tools to the row at the bottom of the screen, and having a skill slot for every key would be very helpful.

The game is really fun so far, just making it more controller friendly would really put this game over the top for me!

With mouse and keyboard, the character always looks at the cursor. Unfortunately the same behaviour is used for the gamepad. With a controller this doesn't work Seeing as you control the "cursor" with the right stick and move with the left. This results with situations where your character doesn't face the direction they are moving in (at least with the ranger class, as I haven't played other classes yet). A simple solution is to override this behaviour by making the character always face the direction the left stick moves you in, unless you also use the right stick at the same time.

The problem is in the game mapping Dual Shock 4 controls that take over the Xbox controls.

To resolve the issue:
1) Open Steam library, right click Hammerwatch II go to Manage> Browse Local Files
2) Open res folder.
3) Open controls_default.cfg with notepad.
4) Scroll down to where the Dual Shock 4 controller mapping is and select everything from down to and delete all of it.
5) Save the file.

**Keep in mind if you use a Dual Shock 4 controller this effectively removes the DS4 controller mapping and if the game updates the controls_default.cfg in the future it will likely add the DS4 mapping back and might result in you having to redo this fix.

Thank you. This resolved my issue. I want to mention that it works for Hammerwatch Anniversary Edition too. My son is very happy now.
