Movement and Aiming on gamepad
Hello, tried the game on mouse and keyboard and it felt nice, however, on gamepad the movement and aiming feel super wonky.
You should absolutely add a control scheme where the left stick controls both movement and where the character is facing while the right stick locks you into the direction you are aiming for strafing. The way it is right now just feels incredibly awkward to control as I really don't want to be using both sticks just to make my character not walk backwards or strafe everywhere.

It's cool to have but entirely visual and not related to the controller setup. It's the same on kbm. I too move my mouse to the direction I'm walking in lol

Unfortunately having the character be strafe locked when not aiming actively shows that this game was developed by people new to the industry and I have issued a refund until this is fixed as I don't even want to know what other basic things the devs somehow missed. Genuinely one of the biggest cases of game feel oversight I've ever seen.

without strafing you would be forced to constantly hold the aim if you run away from enemies and try to attack them.
which would be super annoying
sure they could add a option to handicap yourself for you. but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. dont speak for gamers.
this is painfull to even think of it they did what you suggest.

You do understand that genre has nothing to do with how the game controls, right? This is a top down game that uses twin stick aiming and does not follow the conventions of every other top down game that utilizes twin stick aiming. This isn't an argument you can win bud, and I don't know why you are defending what is actual incompetency as a result of the publisher destroying what was a genuinely A+ game studio.

which games do this?
name me all these other games.

so many topdown games dont do it.
and alot of twinstick games do it too.

but you say every game
cannot even name some

you have no argument and just post spam.

Aight, straight from my games list you ignoramus:

Hammerwatch
Heroes of Hammerwatch
Children of Morta
Wizard of Legend
Hero Siege
Titan Quest
The Slormancer
Minecraft Dungeons
Last Epoch
Nienix
Cat Quest
Cross code
Eastward
Ghostlore
The Mageseeker
Moon Hunter's
Unsighted
Sword of the Necromancer
Nobody Saves the World
Ys (all of them)
Nine Parchments
Archvale
Secrets of Grindea
Full Mojo Rampage (not quite the same, still a top down twin stick dungeon crawler however.)

Now this is just steam games, do you want me to continue with a list of the hundreds, if not thousands of handheld and console games that also use a proper twin stick control scheme or are you too moronic to understand that you are entirely wrong?
As Muffin said this is a weird nitpick

Ah yes because your character perpetually walking backwards or sideways unless you hold aim forever in the same direction is a nitpick. Imagine having standards this low.

non of these games are anything like this. lmao

spamming out of context to make a weird point.
no reason to talk to someone who doesnt understand game genres.

The way the character is facing doesn't even change anything.....what is the issue. You're upset simply because it looks unnatural?

Seriously there is so much wrong with this game, I'm totally baffled this is what stands out to you. You're weird my guy. Pretty much nobody will care about this especially next to the other issues.

Your talking about character look direction based on either camera or the directional controls, at least that's what I understand from the post. None of that has anything to do with being able to play the game.

If I'm wrong then a clearer explanation would be nice because a characters look direction can be shown using both.

It's a glaring issue that's apparent right off the bat. I stopped playing immediately after I realized this could not be changed as it is genuinely a sign of incompetency within the dev team and I refunded as there isn't a single other twin stick RPG/Roguelike/adventure title on the steam market that is competently made that strafe and aim locks the player by default and doesn't allow you to change it. If you can find one, let me know, but the fact of the matter is implementation of having a neutral state separate from aim state is genuinely one of the basics and is literally the very first thing developed in nearly every twin stick game. It's a matter of visuals yes, but it is also a matter of "why on earth would this dev team decide to not have the most basic feature within the genre" implemented. You say there are a lot of problems with the game, after touching this games UI and control scheme that was enough for me to know that there would be far more bugs and glitches down the road and I refuse to even give a game that doesn't get the core basics down, especially when their previous games had done them so well. Not having the basics down after previously having them refined can tell you so much about how a studio is internally that I cannot in good faith say that this game isn't a shoddily rushed mess.
