Heroes of Might & Magic V: Hammers of Fate

Heroes of Might & Magic V: Hammers of Fate

HoMM V, Tribes of the East and Hammers of Fate
I was looking at some reviews of Heroes of Might & Magic V and I saw a guy saying the HoMM V Tribes of the East is a stand-alone, that includes everything from HoMM V and Tribes of the East. When I open the Tribest of the East store page, I didn't see anything saying it's a DLC nor expansion, simply the game. Because of this I moved on to search for everything about "Heroes of Might & Magic V" here on Steam and I found those three games:

-Heroes of Might & Magic V (23 May 2006)
-Heroes of Might & Magic V: Tribes of the East (16 Oct 2007)
-Heroes of Might & Magic V: Hammers of Fate (14 Nov 2006)

Now I have to ask if all those 3 are separated games or DLC and how that works because I would like to buy one of them, but I don't want to buy the one with less experience of gameplay. The review seems to imply that Tribest of the East is Heroes of Might & Magic V + Tribes of the East, the game AND the expansion together. Knowing Hammers of Fate released after Tribes of the East, can I assume Hammers of Fate is Heroes of Might & Magic V + Tribes of the East + Hammers of Fate?

I mean... I know I will not buy Heroes of Might & Magic V, but which one should I buy, between Tribes of the East and Hammers of Fate, to have full experience and gameplay? Do I have to buy both "expansions" or Hammers of Fate has both with it? I'm confused about this. Can someone explain to me which one should I buy and why?

Looking at Tribes of the East store page we can see the game doesn't require Heroes of Might & Magic V to play, implying it's a stand-alone game.

Looking at Hammers of Fate store page we can see the game DOES require Heroes of Might & Magic V to play, implying it's a DLC/expansion.

If I buy Tribes of the East and Hammers of Fate, will I be able to play Hammers of Fate together with Tribes of the East? By the way, which one is the best Tribes of the East or Hammers of Fate? I'm feeling I will have to purchase all 3 and I don't want to play twice Heroes of Might & Magic V (the vanilla version AND the Tribes of the East version)

There is an HOMM 5 mod that has all the content of the base game and expansions, plus enhanced graphics, additional maps, balance fixes, etc. You only need Tribes of the East to install this mod. Check it out here:

2006 release of Hammers, implies it came before 2007 release of Tribes.

Tribes of the East (2nd expansion) includes base game + Hammers of Fate (1st expansion).
So it is the complete HoMM V game. Steam is a ♥♥♥♥♥ for still selling the base game and HoF separate.

You know isn't Steam who does that, right? It's the developers...

By the way, thanks, I already got the game, this post is from 27 Oct, 2019, but thanks for the answer, sometimes is hard to understand those kinds of thing. I had a similar issue with Red Rodgers.

I guess you're right to put the blame on Ubisoft. I know is old post, I answered it for future people who may be confused;)
