I already know the answer, but I figured id take the opportunity to prove to others that money in this doesnt equal winning :D
Thank you for this amazing question! Allow me to answer another one: No just kidding, here is your answer. No, I do not get a win button, because all it does is make me able to buy skins and shards/parts in the store that are used to level up the ability for offline play. I need a stronger character in order to win the Offline Non-Multiplayer Saisonal Events which give me more shards and parts to then unlock more shards and parts. Multiplayer is regulated and if you suck you still suck, owning an item wont help you.
What's your annual TC and what % of that do you spend on in-game MTX each year?
What types of games do you normally spend on? (e.g., racers, city builders)
Which platform do you spend the most on?
What % of your MTX spend is for personal fulfillment vs. showing off?
serious on these questions. Used to work for a major publisher as a data engineer/analyst and we used to cater to our whales, some of which spent over $50k/year. One whale even had his basement modeled after our core game.
I think the only other time where I bought virtual goods was a stupid mount in World of Warcraft and I always did regret that.
I dont support MTX in general, and I would not buy coins here and coins there if they would have me buy them instead of getting them bundled in these founders packs. Right now the game is hot (crossplay, steam numbers dont count!), right now I feel hyped about it, right now I want to see everything there is to see.
Apart from the Bundles, there is right now nothing you can buy for money. You cant get anything right now, so your only source of spending income are these founders packs, and no I will not go on all the other platforms just to rebuy em all, I just wanted to stack up on tokens for costumes of the 3 characters I want to play and stack up on gold passes to not have to pay again for the remainder of the year.
Technically you can get.... 15 packs. 3 on each platform.
Keep in mind thats 200x15, so you are looking at a good 3k across all platforms.
The part I dont like, is you actually lose a small amount when you buy all 3, as ultimate has Mickey and Donald, which you would have already gotten from the standard. So you kind of lose a small amount of value when you buy all 3 in that regards.
Does it really bother you that much we literally have money we can throw in the street and simply not care about?
There is no cope involved, its a case of "Dont care about money". Someone mentioned in a previous post about going to a movie. You would spend more on that outing, than you would for a standard founders pack here....
wow ok... ok, thats why some guys got chars on lvl 29, didnt know that
It bothers me because it affects gamers as a whole. If people spend on this crap that encourages companies to repeat it, making it worse for everyone.
While I agree with what you are saying, you are sort of missing a few things.
Movie tickets generally cost 20-25 bucks these days. So no matter where you go (in my area) you are looking at a similar cost to this games Standard Founder Pack.
As for affecting gamers, yes and no. This applies to BAD games, not good ones that actually are in active development. I am fully aware how EA can burn us, but in some cases, its not that way.
I am one of the earliest supporters of the EA system on Steam, back when it was called Greenlight. So ive been burned many times, and can understand where you might get frustrated, but that should only be applied to the games that genuinely are trying to scam.
This game, is not one of those currently. It MIGHT turn into that later, but we have no way to predict that at the current time. If we can use Dreamlight Valley as a benchmark, I see good things in Speedstorms future, because Dreamlight is actually great.
This exact quote right here is the pinnacle of this whole drama. There is no drama. The game as of right now, is fantastic. I get people are scared but theres no reason to ride the hatetrain at this very moment.
Okay, but when I pay to see a movie, I get the whole movie. If I pay $30 for this game, I still have to work to unlock characters, and I'll only have Premium Battle Pass access for two months.
Hell, you have to spend $70 to get all the character's necessary to take part in the whole Starter Circuit. $30 doesn't even give you enough Mulan shards to move past Chapter 3.
I get it, you spent money on the game. So did I. I spent $70, but I'm going to spend the rest of my time telling others to wait until f2p, because the worst that can happen is the game becomes more player-friendly because it has to, to make money.
There is a Mulan Event right now for the next 47 Days, where its very very easy to get Mulan. Thats the problem when you actually dont play for yourself and just listen to what misinformed streamers show you.
