Which HOMM V should I get?
I don't really care for the campaigns, if I just want to play sandbox I should get this right, since it has more units/ spells than the original base game right?

Tribes of the East is stand-alone and has all of the content for custom games.

I am wondering on the same thing, what do I miss out on if I don't get the "Dwarf" expansion and the normal Heroes 5 copy?

It's only the campaigns that you will miss out on. Tribes of the East will give you all of the custom game content including Dwarf and Barbarian factions. It's the only one you need if you don't care about campaigns.

Does that mod pack work with the steam version of this? I tried installing it, and my uplay version WILL NOT launch now. I don't want to have to re-buy the game, but ^%&*(*)_ ♥♥♥♥ uplay. grr

If you install it right it should work perfectly try uninstalling homm5 then re installing the mod it should work with uplay

Ok I got it to work finally...I think I was making it more difficult on myself by trying to get the files from two places at once. One of the files was corrupted (from elsewhere) but now that I've replaced it, works like a charm!
