Trouble with ultimate skill

I recently bought HoMM5:Tribes of the East from Steam (ver 3.1) and as an old HoMM3-5 player, I love it. I've been playing the campaigns, and with both the necromancer and the wizard, I have used the memory mentor to reset my skills according to the included skill wheel (ver 3.0) to acheive the ultimate skill. Neither has worked. That is, I'm able to get every required skill and ability for the ultimate as shown, but the ultimate skill never becomes available or shows up. Has anyone else had this problem? Not that it's a huge deal, but I'd like to see what it's like.

Hedgewitch as far as I know ultimate skills work 100%. I had a friend who did the same and it worked.

Ultimate skills are either too OP or too hard to get, you may want to try our mod -> heroes of might and magic 5.5. A lot of balance issues are fixed + hero classes are added and skills are better organized. Same goes for the ultimate skills.

Thanks dredknight. I will definitely check it out. I am probably missing something really basic or obvious. I know I had no trouble getting them in vanilla HoMM5. Oh well. Thanks for the reply.
