Heroes of Might & Magic V: Tribes of the East

Solution for game crash on loading.
If this happens to you too, the solution I found was to go to /steamapps/common/heroes of might and magic 5 tribes of the east/bin and right click the H5_game.exe file and choose properties. There, choose the second tab "compatibility" and mark the "disable full screen optimization" option. solves the issue completely.
Hope this helps :)

Glad I could help.
This made me unable to play the game for many months, so I started playing with the settings until i discovered the problem and arrived at the solution.
This is one of my favorite games, even after so many years.

-UbiGinge how about you pitch the idea to remaster HOMM5 to your superiors ? So many fans of this amazing game would buy a remastered Hi Quality version of it, me included !

This worked twice for me and now it once again crashes quite constantly. It's seriously irritating.

The full-screen options won't solve the crashes that happen when you have a savegame made on a large map (256x256 or higher). Those have to do with memory management as far as I can tell, so no luck there.

Hi !

I've taken note of your reports, and I'm sorry to hear that crashes are impacting your experience !

In order to isolate the Issue, can you let us know if the problem still happens after following the steps of our dedicated {LINK REMOVED} ?

I wish you a happy new year, and if you have questions, or if you need help with anything else, don't hesitate to let us know !

Howdy. I checked out the guide.
Still an issue with zero ability to load any map of Large size or bigger. It just crashes.
I had the GOG version for years and it has zero issues at all loading on any size save. It had zero issues at all.
I am not surprised extra large sized maps might crash , but I have played thousands of games on the exact PC I'm on now with no issue for the standard sizes. $50 says I go buy another GOG and I am playing ten minutes later no issues.
This a Steam thing? The only difference is where I got it so it's feeling like a Steam thing.

Hey Ian,

Thanks for the follow up on this.

Would you mind sending your system files over to us on a support case? Using those we might be able to isolate exactly what's causing these crashes for you.

You can reach us either through the support website[support.ubi.com] by opening a live chat session or alternatively through our social media accounts on Facebook[en-gb.facebook.com] and Twitter and they will be able to create a support case for you.

After you've opened the case if I can also ask you to attach two system reports to the case that will assist us in identifying any potential cause. The reports we need from you are:

MSInfo[support.ubisoft.com]
DxDiag[support.ubisoft.com]

Thanks.
