Please be sure to read the "Important Notes" and "Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)" sections of the description on the Steam Store page

Just an FYI, I have run this program for a total of 84 minutes, back in March 2021. However, I tried to run it last night (July 2021) and Windows' security kept aborting the process. I haven't seen any updates to this program since I last ran it. But Windows has had at least one significant update during this time, maybe two months ago?. Apparently somewhere stuffed in the pile of updates was a change to Windows Defender that makes it no longer like this program without running as administrator.

Ugh, thank you for catching that! I had reported it as a false positive to Microsoft Security, and they had whitelisted it, but perhaps that recent major update somehow resulted in its removal from the whitelist. I'll reach out to Microsoft Security again and resubmit it

Yes, the virus alert aside, now I can't even open the program to look at something that I wanted to look at.

Are you able to manually add the game's executable as an exception to your Antivirus? Ideally, you could add the game's entire directory

My windows defender does that, and I tried adding the entire folder to the list of things excluded by the program. It doesn't work, please solve this one way or another, users don't have to go through this every windows update.

So I had uninstalled this program (tidying up Steam Library), then saw this thread, etc. I installed this program again today.
On First Play, I got a security notification. I clicked the dropdown widget and clicked "allow on this device". Then clicked Play again and got a no notification just *poof* nothing happened. Next Play click, I have the program running fine.

I know it may seem dodgey or hinkey, but I say let's applaud Windows' built in security for pausing us here. This program uses Python, and in order to do so, installs (for it's own use) a super powerful programming engine. That shouldn't be allowed without users' consent.

So, in my opinion, things are working as they should.

I'm a fan of the "Certified Developer" way of doing this (I assume there is one), but personally I'm fine jumping through a few hoops to allow a full on python interpreter just get installed on my system. Although it would be cool if the game had to give a legit $USERPATH to the python interpreter vs forcing it to be installed to $SYSTEMPATH. I don't need some unknown email exploiting some unknown preview hack and opening up some port running ROM or something unbeknownst to me. Don't MUD on my dime! ;)

(I assume there's a python port of ROM out there somewhere)
