On what OS is this happening?
Can you try switching your branch to "1.11.2" (should be identical). Does the problem still exist?
Can you run "verify integrity of game files". Does the problem still exist?
Finally, in your "SteamApps" folder, under OpenTTD, there should be a "lang" folder with "english.lng". Is that file present?
If any of you can help us out with this, that would be greatly appreciated!
I solved the problem and now i cant reproduce it. Like Albion said before though, when the problem occurred i had very limited options language wise.
I solved it by opting into the 1.11.1 beta, played a couple of games and after reading your comment opted out of the beta (so i went to the current version 1.11.2). The problem didn't return.
I doubt its the btproclient thats the problem as i dont think it messes around with the language files, but i'm not sure.
Basically, what I would guess, is that this happened:
- You had 1.11.1 installed via Steam.
- You manually installed btpro client on top of this. Steam doesn't track this, and is fully unaware that you did this.
- We pushed 1.11.2, Steam downloads only the changed files.
- For 1.11.2, this is our executable and only a select few languages that changed. Most noticeable, "english" didn't change, and "dutch" did.
- 1.11.2 starts up, and tries to load "english". But it is build for a different version (the btpro client version). As such, that language is refused. But as "dutch" was downloaded for 1.11.2, it is accepted, and the game picks that language.
Personally, I would like to advise you not to overwrite files in the SteamApps folder (Adding files next to it is fine; overwriting is the issue). For many games this is troublesome, and OpenTTD is no exception in this.
If you would like to run btpro client via Steam, that is absolutely possible. Just install it in another folder and add it to Steam as a custom game. You can play it via Steam, friends will see you are playing OpenTTD, and everything.
As benefit, when Steam updates your game automatically, it won't leave it in a partial state as it did now, as the btpro is in a folder it is not auto-updating :)
Hope this helps!
very good
P.S. I am Russian, so sorry for possible errors in the text
