oTTD or Mashinky
Guys, I would love to hear your oppinions if someone should play oTTD or Mashinky. What do you missing on either one of them or what are reasons to choose one specific game.

Thanks!

(Mashinky Dev here & big fan of oTTD. But please do not filter your Mashinky critics because of it :))

They are not comparable. One is highly realistic, and looks drab, meanwhile the other is vibrant and beautiful. Im betting the controls and the gameplay is also different.

Pretty pixel art > drab realistic graphics
They're both pretty good games. As it stands today, OpenTTD. It's complete with years and years of development on top and it's free.

?
Why even that question?
Msahinky costs money, OpenTTD doesnt.
Mashinky is a great transportation game (ofcourse both are comparable, Flytrap talks nonsense).
If you like the genre, get it.
Yo ucan come back later to play TTD anyway.

Wait a minute, aren't you the Mashinky developer. I played oTDD in the past and really enjoyed it same as oreginal. And also looking forward to play Mashinky in the future.

Well of course you can play both OpenTTD and Machinekey at the same time on separate monitors!

I prefer ottd. Good gameplay and, most important, not "windows only".

Yes, he is. Probably the question is not about what should he play but why we would play one or the other. If that is to make his game better, it's good

I actually like both of them, they have a lot of common mechanics but pace and play possibilities are different in many other aspects.
I don't really miss features from one or another (and in OpenTTD I could just add them if I want and issue a patch request), but I might miss features neither of the 2 have compared to other games ;)

I tend to live in a bubble when it comes to transport games (drawback of working on OpenTTD, I guess), so I didn't know about Mashinky, I have to admit.

But holy crap that looks amazing :o Pretty sure it contains many of the things people keep bugging us about to add to the game .. guess now I also get a bit more why :P I absolutely love the style of the game ..

Now I have the annoying choice to make .. do I buy it and lose a few weeks of my time, or do I quickly close the "lets play" videos and continue on with my day ..

What have you done to me :P

Your the dev to the Mashinky, congrats you have now made sure I never buy your game.

Wat eh? Jan asks for some reasonable information to guide development of Mashinky and this is your reaction? Any chance you could reflect a bit on that? Thanks and all.

Thanks a lot all of you for comments! I am sorry, I should make that connection to Mashinky dev straigh in advance, not only used my official account to ask. I only wanted to hear unfiltered critics ...

@TrueBrain: Do not get me wrong, as I admit in every interview, oTTD is my first app installed on any PC :D You guys did a bloody good work and I still have a lot to learn. First, my approach was to reconstruct the childhood feeling when playing TTD / oTTD & Railroad tycoon, but soon it reached the junction and now Mashinky is on a slightly different track.

But my community keeps asking me to add some oTTD features too, like PBS for instance :D

Sorry guys again for confusion, but thanks for your thoughts. I will edit question to make that clear...

Haha, that is pretty funny :D They want the best of both worlds I guess. Depending on your view of "best" of course :D

Exactly :) And it is natural. I also want to play a game with all my Favourite Features (tm) :) Sometimes, it is quite challenging, like with the PBS - Mashinky has driver mode where you can jump in/out the train any time and drive freely on your rail/road network. This makes the track prediction for PBS quite useless :D

But just to mention (I am not related to, other than by nationality) - you should check CZTR for oTTD (Czech realistic replacement). These guys are also incredible and keeping oTTD community in my country active.

I agree, achieving such portability as oTTD has is almost impossible for one-man-army dev, but thanks to Proton, Mashinky runs at least on Linux too.
