unpause to build :-(
I've got to say, I find the fact that you cannot build whilst paused is quite annoying. Especially given how awkward the building is. By the time you've built a line any distance three new trains have been invented and you've either gone bust or earnt enough money that you don't have to worry about money any more. If you could just drag out a line and it would appear, it wouldn't be a problem. But since you have to argue with it over every segment basically, and then go back and build all the signals manually (can't see how the dragging thing's gonna work if your line is longer than one screen)... it would really be nice to be able to take your time over the construction, craft it, design it properly with the game paused.

I mean, that's not a bug complaint, and I'm not jumping up and down screaming about the game being broken or "I don't understand" or anything. It's just a design choice, but it's one that annoys the @£$% out of me and probably going to prevent me ever really getting into the game.

That and the thing with the trees (how you can't rotate the map, so you can't see half of the tiles, so you have to bulldoze trees just to be able to see why your flipping railway won't build, so then the towns hate you, so then you have to build the trees back. Just seems like a weirdly annoying mechanism to build into the game).
