Stop time progression?

I was wondering if there's a way to pause time progression but still play, as I want to experience the unlocks naturally but only when my friends are on playing

you could pause the game when you are alone.

Change the game clock to wall clock before you start the game and set it to 0. It will freeze the calendar but still progress the simulation.
