How to install A.I. to play against?
I love the fact that you can play at your own pace, but also wish that I could play against the A.I.

I took a small break from playing for a while, but remember reading a few posts and seeing where if you want to play against A.I., you have to install one from the in game mod section. I'm not sure if it's changed or not, but is there a way I can play against an A.I. opponent (or more than one)? If so, how, and what kinds do you recommend playing against?

I'm sure this question has been asked numerous times already, and sorry in advance. I just wanted to check and see if anybody could help me out, and felt it would be easier to make a new post to ask my questions instead of possibly necro-ing a much older thread by accident.

First go to the online content thingy and download some, or all, AIs ...
Second go to the AI/game scripts settings, select how many AIs you want to battle against and then in the slots below you can set a specific one for each slot ... you don't have to do this (setting AIs to slots that is) but then random ones will be chosen ... (*)
Third ... start a game as per usual.

Most AIs are not meant to have multiple instances of themselves running at the same time ... mine does but it's not on BaNaNaS ... nor do I have any plans putting it on there ... It also does not do much ... just builds roads and yaps in the console ... 'AiAi Caramba' if you're curious ...

ps: the bridges and tunnels thingy is no longer an issue as they are no longer deleted when the AI goes poof eventually

Awesome! Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it!

I played for a bit against the "Civil A.I." and enjoyed seeing how well it faired building his company. I got worried a few times because it looked like they went out of buisness a few times since all their road vehicles dissappeared, but they pulled through pretty well!

One thing I noticed on the A.I. setup are some options. If you don't mind, what are these for?

"Number of Days to start this A.I. after the previous one" (I think it's self-explanatory, but any benefit/challenge to increasing/decreasing it?)

"The maximum radius of the road network this A.I. will build."

and

"Build Train brake vans, if available, until year:"

Also, do you have any suggestions for any fun or challenging A.I.(s) to play against or check out?

If you want to play against a strong AI, AAAHogEx is the AI I would recommend. It is the most profitable in the game as far as I know. I made it :P

Works as described ... with the caveat that there is some randomness aplied to that time ... might be a bit sooner or later but still around 'that' time the next one will start.

"The maximum radius of the road network this A.I. will build."
letting AIs build very long routes will slown it down a lot to the point they seem dead while they are not, especially if you have many AIs running at the same time ... how much really depends your system specs ... a single core fast CPU will be faster than a slower multicore CPU ...
My AI makes fun of this and even calls to call me nuts if the road it is trying to build is very long

"Build Train brake vans, if available, until year:"
brake vans, or cabooses as they are called somewhere in the world, are brake vans ... usually located in the back ... they are not relevant for modern trains as all wagons have traction/braking these days ... except for maybe freight trains ... those wagons do not all have traction ...
this setting tells some AIs untill what year they should even bother trying to build those.

Just try them all?
