I don't have a direct link for you as I've never looked into this sort of thing but I might have a cookie crumb trail for you. There appears to be patches that will help you achieve what you want. If you google: "OpenTTD + Day Length" you will find a series of forum posts that discuss it. You may be able to find something there that can help you on your way.
Alternatively. You can press Ctrl+Alt+C to open the cheat menu in singleplayer. And you can adjust the year you're in. If for example you wanna play with the steam trains for longer. Just keep rolling the date back to 1958 or something.
Hi,
Ran a quick test for you. Lets say you are at 1962. You will have just gotten the Floss '47' Diesel train. If you then change the date back to 1950, all vehicles that were unlocked at 1962 will remain available. They don't disappear, and you can still buy them even if you are at 1950 all of a sudden.
But that just means you won't unlock anything new until you hit a later date where other trains will get released. I believe... 1964 will be the first next train but don't quote me on that. So in theory that would mean you can play from 1950 to 1963 with the same set of vehicles. Or go nuts and go down to 1800.
