Farm Helper Not Helping

Hi, I've been having a issue where my kid is suppose to be my farm helper and they won't water the crops unless I'm outside with them. The moment I go in the house, the last crop I saw them watering, is where their watering ended even though theres hours left before the 5pm time they stop. I've lost a bunch of trees because I didn't realize this was happening and it went too many days not being watered while growing still. It defeats the purpose of having my kid be the farm helper if I have to stay outside to watch or go behind them at the end of my day in a rush so my plants aren't all dried out the next day. Is this a known bug?

Not quite known; I haven't heard anyone specifically have this problem unless their watering cans have run out or if you go to sleep while they are still working. The second part of that a bug I'll try to fix but not get to it anytime soon tbh :(
