weird cave in the forest?

I thought this was just for decoration, this cave thing surrounded by leaves. I tried to enter it in the beginning of the game but i couldn't get in. so i assumed it was decor. but just now towards sundown I walked passed it and about 6 villagers popped out of that cave, wtf I wanna go too!

It has a storyline attached, which you will find after you befriend Astra Vosen.

The villagers who came out of it were probably the Hunters and apprentices. I think they are the only ones who know about or ever go to the secret place besides the character. Sometimes they spend a couple of days back there at a time, unreachable by the player.

Once I had a son that I apprenticed to the Hunters, and I was very unhappy when this happened and I could not find him.
