Moneymaking is pretty bad
its a farming game, i dont really think that the best way to make money should be by getting wood.. its ridiculousy cheap to sell crops and it takes so long as well, compared to wood. BUT PLEASEEEE dont lower the price of wood, just increase the price of crops cus at this rate its way too low and you can get like 25 coins for 5 crops which is barely enough for one meal

You can literally live off of fishing in this game forever if you wanted.

The further you go the better crops you get for selling. You can also eat the raw crops if I remember correctly so you won't need to spend all your money on food. 😊
Sure but drying is so much better. People please utilise the drying rack. Devs please explain the importance of the drying rack to new players.
Artisan stations early on are the way to go, as well as cooking when you can to increase the value of your crops. I’m in summer year one and I usually maintain about 1000 gold and I have three drying racks, three preserving stations, a flour station, a keg and a coop with 4 chickens. I usually make bread to gift to villagers and focus on making jam and pickled fish to sell. I try and eat foragables, and sell any food that villagers gift to me.

things really open up once you hit the mine. it gives more than the farm does in early game first year. however it should and you can get what you need to make more money with a coop or barn. you'll want an ice box or cellar from the first house upgrade before winter.

also don't be afraid to repair your tools before they are about to break the repairs are less expensive that way. the less damage they have the lower the cost.

Also: once you repaired the bridge, you can get a crabpot, turn off tool durability, turn off the fishing minigame and farm lobsters.
If you plant 20 pea plants at the beginning of spring you will be rolling in thousands of gold two and a half weeks later, just from selling peas.

this is so true Pees are the renewable crop of spring there is only one season that doesn't have one of these and that's fall. in summer it's cucumbers and hops. i just don't understand why hay is the only thing that survives between seasons. wheat dies but hay sill goes strong till winter. i know the others are labeled and all that's fine. just curious about what makes the difference between wheat and hay.
I'm kind of curious if the crops values were updated because I'm new to the game and planted all the free seeds you get to start and the mayor gives you for talking to everyone, and I got another random quest for violets that gave me pea seeds. The crops drop free seeds when you harvest, so I didn't have to reinvest the crop sale money into new seeds. I was able to sell my crops for enough money to buy a steel watering can and an iron fishing rod and I'm only on Tuesday of week 2. I haven't been fishing yet until today. Just been living on dried cherries and survival salads every day. I haven't been selling my stones or wood yet. I'm hoarding them for quests and crafting.

They raised crop sell prices by 4g in the update a couple of days ago.
Ah that makes sense, because I'm not even growing anything fancy like the seeds the sailor's had for sale on the weekend. I think they had pineapples. I'm just doing the regular stuff like peas, turnips, potatoes, etc. 4g is a big increase for stuff when the game gives away so many starter seeds for free. It's just a big time commitment to keep it all watered. I'm trying to balance time spent farming and time socializing in town. There's a limit to how much I can grow and still participate in quests and weddings and stuff. I'm excited to start fishing too.

farming is pretty good to get money , especially when your family is doing most of the work
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think making goat cheese with midnight and rainbow milk might be one of the best money makers for artisan goods?

I've also been smelting gold bars and making dye.
